RAW from Albany NY
- From the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y.
- Lilian Garcia introduces Raw GM William Regal. He announces the WWE Championship will be defended at Backlash. He introduces the WWE Champion, Randy Orton. Followed by his opponent, JBL! Regal begins to put over their match before being interrupted by The Game, Triple H! Triple H asks Regal if he is out of him mind? He says he knows he was busy last week with Ric Flair’s retirement but he doesn’t consider himself out of the picture. He points out that Randy got lucky by falling on Cena after Triple H’s Pedigree at WrestleMania and all JBL has done since coming back was beat up a midget! Regal announces Trips will face JBL & Orton in a handicap match tonight, if he wins, he will be in the main event making it a triple threat match.
(1) Umaga vs. Val Venis
Umaga keeps Venis grounded with power moves and nerve holds. Umaga hits his running-turnbuckle-power move followed by the Samoan Spike for the victory
- The fans are asked to text in to a poll. Did Shawn Michaels do the right thing at WrestleMania? Yes or No. Up later; Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel with Batista and Shawn Michaels
(2) Jillian & Melina vs. Ashley & Mickie James
Ashley takes it to Jillian early. Melina interferes, Mickie goes to work on Melina. Jillian accidently hits Melina. Mickie hits a Tornado DDT on Melina for the win.
- Up next; a look back at Ric Flair’s Farewell last week.
- We are shown the footage of Ric Flair’s loss to Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania and his very emotional goodbye and curtain call last week.
- WrestleMania XXV will be held in Houston, Texas. It is being billed as the “Silver Anniversary”
(3) Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch vs. Brian Kendrick & Paul London
Kendrick and London are flying everywhere as normal. Cade hits a sit-down powerbomb on Kendrick, Murdoch goes for the cover but Kendrick catches him in a small package for the victory.
- Backstage JBL walks into Orton’s locker room. Orton says he can save the speech about how they have to work as a team tonight. He says he has beaten Triple H before and he will do it again. He tells JBL to stay out of his way. That match is up next.
(4) Handicap Match – Triple H must win to be in the main event at Backlash. Triple H vs. JBL & WWE Champion Randy Orton
Triple H starts with the advantage but JBL and Orton soon take control. JBL tries to finish Trips off but Orton gets the blind tag. This distracts JBL. Orton tries to RKO Trips but he shoves Orton into JBL. Orton turns around into Pedigree for a Triple H win.
- After the match John Cena makes his way to the ring, he points out he has beaten Triple H, JBL and Orton at different times. He says we could go on all night about who beat who. He proposes to Regal a Fatal Four Way at Backlash. Regal tells Cena he will offer him the same thing he offered Triple H. Cena will compete in a handicap match against JBL & Triple H later tonight!
(5) World Tag Team Champions Hardcore Holly & Cody Rhodes vs. Carlito & Santino Marella
Back-and-forth match. A few near finishes. Cody has the advantage until he is knocked from the top turnbuckle and given a diving headbutt from Santino Marella who gets the win.
- Backstage Cryme Tyme are selling WrestleMania merch. JTG has Kim Kardashin’s thong, but unfortunately for him, it turns out to be Mae Young’s!
- J.R. and King talk about the growing rivalry between the Big Show & The Great Khali
- JBL tries to talk to Triple H backstage, Trips doesn’t respond. JBL nudges him, Trips takes out an ear phone and says ”sorry did you say something?!?” JBL walks off saying “why does no one listen to me?”, Trips says it’s because he’s an a$$!
(6) Maria vs. Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix
Maria holds her own against the Glamazon. She manages to reverse a lot of Beth maneuvers. Maria gets 2 near falls on Phoenix. Beth manages to hit the Fisherman’s Suplex on Maria after the 2nd attempt to get he win.

The Highlight Reel
Chris Jericho introduces Batista and Shawn Michaels. Jericho looks at the results of the text poll, 65% of the fans said “YES” Shawn did the right thing. Jericho talks to HBK 1st, he tries to interrogate HBK, asking him why he did it and if he was truly sorry for doing it? Shawn says he was and is truly sorry. Batista interrupts calling Shawn a liar. Batista says Shawn did it because of his ego and so he can have another notch in his belt. Shawn asks Batista if he wouldn’t of done the same thing? Batista says no. Shawn says that is exactly why he didn’t ask to face Batista at Mania. Shawn says Flair could rely on him to give him his best. He tells Batista he has a lot of blood on his hands, some he’s proud of and some he’s not and if Batista wants some of him then he should do something about it. Batista says he already has. Batista leaves the ring.
- Backstage Orton complains to Regal about the idea of having to defend his title against 3 guys at Backlash, Orton says he deserves respect. Regal says next week Raw emanates from London, and he’s going to teach Orton about respect when he faces none other than the GM himself!
- Regal announces Shawn Michaels will face Batista at Backlash!
(7) Handicap Match – John Cena must win to be in the main event at Backlash. John Cena vs. Triple H & JBL
Randy Orton is ringside. JBL doesn’t tag Triple H in. As soon as Cena starts to get the advantage JBL tries to get the tag, Triple H then refuses! JBL tries to hit Trips, he blocks and hits JBL back. They fight to the outside of the ring, Orton tries to get involved, JBL accidentally hits Orton. Trips and JBL fight back in the ring, with the ref distracted trying to make Trips leave the ring Orton runs in and RKO’s JBL! Cena throws Orton from the ring and gets the pin on JBL! It will be a Fatal Four Way at Backlash. Cena and Triple H stare at each other as Orton raises the WWE Title. Raw goes off air…
WTF? Fatal 4 way. thats ridiculous.
think i might go and whinge that i didnt get a shot and see if they can do something.

the resy of raw looks alright,
there must be an overseas tour cos they r starting to use Val Venis on TV.
i swear that the only time we see him

Whew lol
Yeah, Raw failed. which sucks because they had a lot to live up to from the previous week. I hsould have known they would fail though.
Cody and Holly loosing twice in a row is not good. Londrick is ALWAYS enertaining.
Poor Santino....he needs to lay off the pasta and pizza. I think he has gained 20 lobs this week alone. Even Jerry made a comment about his "love handles"
Scale of 1-10 I rate Raw a 6 this week. Meh.
