Tractor CB's
I was at a car boot at the weekend & stopped to look at a nice shiny PMR radio, thats in a nice metal case that was covered with a nice big PMR rental companies logo & containing a mains transformer, but with no mains cable.
So anyhow I'm looking at this nice shiny box when Mr stall holder wanders over. I'm about to ask if he knew what band it was on when....
"It's a CB from a tractor mate"
"Are you sure?"
"Yep, got it off a guy who said it came out of his tractor"
"Are you sure?"
"Errr well that’s what he told me!!"
"Well this is what is called a PMR radio & this box contains a 240Volts mains electricity supply,...Look it says so here."
"Errr, well he told me it was a CB."
"Well it's not, CB has at least 40 channels & this has one. This requires a licence for this specific frequency & probably a repeater, CB doesn't. CB operates straight from the box...or should. This requires firm ware to program it & with out access to that firm ware it is next to useless to anyone else."
Looking slightly dejected..."Oh well I'm selling it as a CB...Is it worth much?"
"Couple of quid at the most & that’s if it's not stolen, which looking at this rental companies logo I would say it is"
"Oh"
He also had a very nice shiny box for £5 on his stall that was a modern 40 channel CB...Anyone lost one
