posticon Familiarity and all that

I have been using an extended double zepp - works good for me when there is propogation and the direction is good - northeast southwest. However a tree close by had really grown through the summer and I decided to get to grips and cut it right back. Have used ladders, absail and fly a microlight so I wasn't phased about being up a couple of meters. Tied the ladder to the tree - one leg sunk - ladder spun around and I ended up on my arse. Some 6 weeks later I am still in some pain. Apparently most falls and injuries from ladders are caused from falls from 2 metres or less.It scarred the hell out of me - I guess I thought it would never happen to me - but it did so just be aware - and by the way I have still got the tree to sort out!

Mainly because falls from much higher result in death...?

Good lesson learnt there; Applies equally to high voltages too. emoticon

Hope your feeling better soon, I've had a few injury's chopping tree branches for antennas too, I slipped down a slate roof once as well on my backside after putting an antenna on a chimmney, the rain came on so quick the slates became as slippy as ice and I lost my footing (I did not have a roof ladder), fortunately I landed on an extension and not the concrete yard about 20ft below! that was scary when I think about how it could of ended. If I was a meter to the left or right I would of been in serious trouble. emoticon

I've been lucky so far I suppose, as the only injury I've had climbing trees is when I put my foot into a hole in the trunk to assist my climb and disturbed rather a lot of bees nesting in there.

I don't usually consider myself much good at running, but... emoticon
