the new mobile..... at last

well i have had this a while now but have only just fitted the radio and got it tuned in. I had a bit of trouble with swr as the high-top is metal not fibreglasss, i fitted a heavy duty mount but the antenna was too close to the bodywork. So i have a gutter mount above the driver door which keeps the antenna away from the high-top. I stil have a bit to do to the interior but its usuable now cooker workin sink plumbed in and beds sorted. I'm goin to carpet the walls and fit a mini bus seat in the back just foir extra seatbelts.

I went down portland(weymouth)last weekend and was sat on top of the verne and got into wales on FM so the set-up seems to be working, I have the ranger and b300p fitted up front and will take the icom out every now n then. So i will soon be out n about the hills drinking cups of tea n cooking bacon sarnies whilst i CQ-DX .... emoticon

Nice one, well done! Thats a nice looking camper, some decent conditions on a weekend now and you`ll be sorted! Am swapping my car back to my old galaxy, I can have a stove in the back of that if needed. Its all good stuff.

thanks AL its deffo nicer with a bit more room, and i got 3 new batteries which should give me enough power.

cheers keith i managed to get hold of a passenger seat out of a w reg peugeot boxer van which is blue and matches the camo pretty good, its got seat belts too so i can legally get everyone in now emoticon i got brown carpet on the floor for now as it wont show any dirt as i will still be using it as a van sometimes. blue on the walls though

Why 12v? Just run it off a cheap 300w inverter, doesnt use anywhere near 300w but needs it for start up unless its a flat screen, then it doesnt even need that emoticon

Cheap inverter

ahhhh i do have an inverter in the shed, i think its 500 watt, i thought it would drain the battery really fast? so they dont use much power when on?

Most inverters, even the really cheap modified sine wave ones, are around 90-95% efficient. Which means will use hardly any more battery than if running 12v emoticon

So watts for 240v is say 10watts will be 9-9.5watts for 12v. I think a small TV is about 3 watts when running emoticon

I've just had a root through my caravan, and I've found a 300w inverter, not used more than a couple of times in the box, if you need one Paddy let me know emoticon
