I-Max 2000 or 827
I have purchased a SIRIO 827 to erect just as soon as we sell house and move. Anyway, a freind said I should have spent a few sqid more and got a SOLARCON I-MAX 2000 as it's better.
So the thing is should I sell the 827 or or keep it?
Also would I have to buy the GP Kit as well to make it perform that much better than the 827 as this then would be more than a few sqid more like my freind said.

Re: I-Max 2000 or 827
There is a bit about this topic under the antenna heading, I have read about both these aerials and the general opinion is that you made the right choice by going for the 827. Would have been my choice to and am sure you will be pleased with it. As for the gp kit, both would be better with one-for gp.

Thanks for your replies, have asked this question on other forums and the conclusion has been the same, stick with the 827.

Re: I-Max 2000 or 827
Hi NumbNut, The 24ft Imax 2000 performs very well on air and in bad weather, I have never new any person who has used one to think they are no good. I have the ground plane kit but have replaced this with some longer wire radials which are virtually invisible when up there, I have isolated the antenna from the pole and attached a choke balun below the feed point too, I have worked the world on it from 18MHz up.
For novelty value I tried the Imax 2000 around 40 meters with no success, I have heard the Sirio 827 down there though with big signals. If you consider the price of the Imax 2000 with the radial kit (£130), pound for pound the Sirio 827 is a lot more value for money at £80 all in. If your neighbours have no objections to the 827 you have made a good choice, I wanted a reasonably low profile slim good looking fit and forget antenna, that's why I chose the Imax and I have not been disappointed.
