Re: tvi

Hi there, It probably still will if CB coax's etc are run near the TV coax and hi power is used on ssb, especially if 11m antennas are near the TV antennas, I have seen some break through from radio to DTT and it causes the picture to freeze and break up. The best way to deal with it I reckon is get them radio antennas as high as practicably possible, use a good quality coax and use a choke balun were possible. emoticon

The beauty of digital TV is that different forms of interference produce the same result - picture freezing or breakup / pixellisation. (sp?)

This is simmilar whether caused by a transmitter or a 50cc moped, and this may be a good thing.

I cause a different problem on mine under certain conditions, this being direct breakthrough into the TV's internals - this simply causes the picture brightness to change slightly with voice peaks, but no breakup of the actual image.

I could probably cure it by winding the TV downlead and / or mains lead through a ferrite ring a few times, but it's only crappy soaps on there so I don't bother.

yes hd, digi, analogue will all suffer from 27mhz if you run high power from unclean amps & as said low ariels.
run a low pass filter in line get high pass filters for tv's or notch filters if running on the hf side of things.t tv coax is **** ,no braid & never gets changed,so is wet & corroided.same thing with the tv areil often in the wrong direction.
& earth ya radio equipment

The problem with digital tv is that it is either on or off ! There is no halfway house where you can watch a fuzzy picture with a ghost or only get half the sound.
If the digital tv signal is weak in your area then the slightest thing will stop it as one of the other members said even a kid on a moped will knock it out.
On the plus side if it is a strong signal and you fit some good low and high pass filters you can run plenty of power without causing any bother.

The tv still the same. trouble with dig is it needs higher field strength to avoid tvi so more than likely with crap tv setups its still gonna show up. If its induced via antenna coax then dig should be more imune in theory but the dicriminator specs are still woefully innadequate to block high fsrf.
Time will tell I guess.

the only good thing about digi TV, is if you do interfere with it (providing there is no audio breakthrough) then the pixelating or freezing of the picture is exactly the same as what happens with a weak signal or interference from bad weather ect. so its a lot harder for people to prove it's you doing it emoticon

not quite tvi, but i can and sometimes do run 700watts on hf from home and i dont seem to get any problems.. but if i run 10 watts on ssb on vhf i set of all the smoke alarms in ny house... there all linked and mains powered, tried always to stop it internally, but it looks like im going to have to move the collinear . strange how these things pan-out.

Having the same Probs here with a neighbours Cordless Phone and I have up-graded PL259's, Coax and Antenna. Still waiting to hear about Planning. Thing is I wish it was just TVI then maybe I could sort it. Oh the joys of Radio!!!
