swr-again probably!!
took my radio with me to northampton so first time mobile, before i went checked swr and found to be high[like 3] but down in low band 26kh it was fine[like 1.5]. any amount of adjustment would not get it lower than about 2.75 so decided to make a bit shorter about 3mm at atime after about 3 hours[slight exageration] i managed to get it to around 1.75/2.00 and had to leave it at that as time was short, is this right? the antenna is a sirio 3000 with a permanent roof mount in truck roof. i did try calling and had good qso with austria and france with about 100w so i know its working fine in that respect, should i spend more time shortening or what to do? .ps i got great results parked next to a river, less qrm and more stations on recieve?

Re: swr-again probably!!
i have never cut anything off my sirio 3000, mine is on a magmount and the swr is bang on. i did have swr problems using it on my discovery but that was down to bad earths and a mix of steel roof and alloy body?? strange. just check its groundin properly cos the sirio antennas dont usually need trimming

Re: swr-again probably!!
I had to trim about 15mm off of my 4000? Its probably the location which makes the difference. Better the swr the better you will get out, I would try and get you swr as good as possible, dont trim off too much though
