Re: Icom 706 MK2G

well its took me a while to review this radio, but i have had mine for a few months now and thought it about time. Excellent little radio IMO once you get used to the menus, excellent audio reports on the standard mic(although i did tweak the SSB audio a little)and sounds nice and clear on the Heil HMiC hand mic. Radio gets quiet warm even on receive but i have fallen asleep with the radio on all night several times and it doesnt seem to bother it. The receive audio is not as soft as my Kenwood TS50 but i'm sure an external speaker would sort this out. All in all an excellent radio with excellent coverage well worth the money and i would recommend to anyone

*edit*my version is the 706MK2G

I have had the 706 mk2g for around 6 years.
What can I say it does what it says it should. Its been in three different vans and has been used on both 45m and vhf uhf and I have never had any problems with it.
Good little radio.

had my 706 mk1 for a few years now,set your menus once and forget em,likes a bit of power drains the 110amp leisure batery quickly when mobile, works very well mobile with my sirio 4000,only problem i've had is just the teley plug as packed up on the mic???thinking of putting a easytalk wireless headset on it?? emoticon
works better with the adonis on when static mobile.
