ive been listenin to the same chaps talkin on 3697mhz for a couple of months now and they get a idiot playing music or swearing over the top of them probably once every 2 weeks. I couldnt beleive it, it reminded me of CB radio. its an english station aswell so just proves that you get muppets everywhere, even if radios cost alot more money

they have lowered the test standards so low that the cb muppets can actually PASS them now. if you get your name right on the exam, they let you looSe with 400w on HF. BIZZARE

Re: 2 metres

hiya lads.got myself a yaesu 817 qrp set cause it fits nice over the lincoln in the van, and am set to start my foundation in a few weeks but as 11 is dead, have been listening mainly to 20,40 and 80m as this has been where the dx is at recently.the striking thing is just how many rude and self important pricks are on these bands.you rarley hear this harshness of tone on 11 and to my ear would rather hear, as we do from time to time, the odd curse albeit in jest rather than get into qso and get belittled because of inexeperience working amateuer HF bands.
ive also heard a lot of brilliant operators, and have from them, obtained new skills to use myself when i get my own ticket and continue to love and use 11,
its just just a shame that a new/younger generation operator may be put off radio by these sad crusty few who think that because theyve passed, then no one else has.i am a little dissapointed in my new amatuer purchase, thats all.
anyway, disapointments aside,i cant wait to get at the Dx and wait and see the blasting one of these types get if they try and spoil my fun.lol.
