Re: hello from Indiana USA
as far as skip go's I couldnt tell. ice + antenna dont go to well... so im off air. but over the past few months realy hasnt been much of anything just the occasional "west coast" skip. and alot of mexicans splattering all over the band. haven't heard any austrailia, japan,uk, in prob over a year and a half. but as the solar cycle starts to peak out im shure it will be back

Re: hello from Indiana USA
yes we should see the skip get better as we get closer to 2011/2012 where sunspot cycle shal peak then then downhill it will go again.
matter of fact tho. i grabbed the 102inch whip out of the shed. got it hooked up. I am catching a "counting station" on 27.330 USB at 4:15pm edt. sounds like a russian female repeating numbers. just barely audible to me (its less then 1 S unit on the meter) but its there.

Re: hello from Indiana USA
maco V5000 ground plane, only virtical that will hold the 4500Watts I can hit if i need to.
but the ice and winds bent it all to heck this winter.

Re: hello from Indiana USA
holy ****, 4500watts that would melt my antenna and set fire to the attic. keep ya feet warm on a cold night. i think my neighbours would suffer some tv interference if i pushed that sort of power. lol

Re: hello from Indiana USA
yea last time i fired it all up. i poped a big screen tv 2 blocks over.
but when i bang it i bang it.
RCI 2980 into a black cat modulator into a heathkit sb200 into a home made 5KW with 1/2 andrews heliax coax.
i know the amp will do about 6800 at full power but i got mine set at 4500
. the next guy on the power scale around here can bang about 3400watts.
however I use the amps for Am skip. now on ssb the max i'll use is about 1KW even tho the big monster will work on ssb but the relays dont click they klang (it litterally sounds like someone is dropping a lead plate onto another lead plate) its loud.
if you know anything about U.S. cb the big power guns usually hang out on the "superbowl" channel 6 AM and i can get in there right with them ( cause they call me scotty and i just got down ) :P
I have wonderd why the UK gov. put the cb band there on FM considering in the US FM isnt suposed to be below 29.500 (high 10meter)
