Hi All I'm new here

Hi,
I have been a licensed amateur since 1984 with my roots in HF and 11 Metres.
I've been listening around on my Yaesu FT-817 and it's nice to hear 11 metres SSB again after 25 or so years.
I'm looking for rig recommendations please.
Maybe a Cobra 148 GTL DX?

73,
Ian G1###

welcome Ian, I am using Superstar 3900 with seperate frequency counter, but I spotted they have just put out the SS158 which is a similar radio but with frequency counter built in, and the new blue display looks cool too!!! happy Dxin'

Re: Hi All I'm new here

I've discovered today, that my Yaesu FT-817ND works quite well on 11 metres!
I found some software that enables the rig to transmit between the amateur bands.
Just need a linear now.

Well done for modding the radio emoticon

Yes a linear would be a good idea for a 5w radio, having said that theres plenty that DX successfully with 5w, just need a Moonraker six to do it with emoticon

Welcome Ian,
I'm new to this forum too, but not new to radio. Like you, I was a disillusioned radio amateur long ago, and over the years I've messed around on many bands from, UHF down to VLF (yes! through the ground!), but most of my time was spent on Echo Charlie (45m). I think I'll have to stoke up one of my old Tx's and get back into the swing of things!
Mike.
