Re: waving a hand!!
Hi Shane and welcome! Have you seen the bits on here about aerials, there are some good tips on there, inverted V`s and all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff? I was gonna have a go at making one but will stick to my A99 for now, at least I know that works!

Re: waving a hand!!
hey hello again Al,
yeah i've just been looking at the info on here and i've just had a go at making an inverted vee ....got all the measurments and followed the instructions to the letter but i'm having a job getting the SWR down...it's ok with ATU, but that aint the point!!...anyway gonna keep trying!
cheers for the welcome BTW

Re: waving a hand!!
hello mate, the inverted V works a treat when the skips about, no good for groundwave(CB).
When you make a wire antenna always make it longer than the measurments so you can trim it for SWR, trim equal amounts off each peice of wire(i did half inch at a time til i got mine down, the worse the SWR the more i cut off just to save trips to the loft but got it right down). Also have you made a Balun at the feedpoint of the wire(where coax joins?)this helps with SWR,RF feedback and stops the coax interfering with the antenna?
Mine works a treat in the loft

Re: waving a hand!!
Hey thanx topbuzzuk, yeah i did cut the wire longer and also made the balun or RF choke or whatever it's called?! but SWR is about 2.5 and wont come down??? each leg started around 10FT now they're trimmed down to just under 9FT i can tune it ok with my ATU but dont want to keep that in line .... would the antenna be just as effective if i had to cut the wire to less than 9FT or 102 Inches to get the SWR down, or is SWR just one of those wierd and wonderful things???
Thanks in advance for any info and help

oh and p.s. Thanks for the welcome 26FB139

Re: waving a hand!!
i just kept trimming mine until the swr came down, on the frequencies i wanted to use it. dont worry if you cut them under 9 foot to swr them in, an inverted V will actually be shorter than a horizontal diapole. just keep trimming until you start to se it come down, i had to trim quiet alot off mine before i saw significant movement on the swr meter
