Found on Ebay here, there are several 148's on Ebay, the best value ones look like there from the US, problem will be if you want the UK 40 I suppose.

Thats a Cobra 148GTL-DX, I already have two of them. Im looking for a Cobra MK5, Only 500 mk5's were made. Someone must have a decent one they want to sell me...Please emoticon

he means the MK5 that was a uk modded 148gtl-dx with the frequency counter - commonly known as the 'blackface' cobra.

This is originally a 148 GTL-DX (PB-010AB), professionally modified by "John Nugent" (JenTec).
('John from Plaistow)
It had a new front panel with a 5-digit frequency counter.

youve got as much chance of getting one of those thsn i have of getting a snog off the queen!

keep an eye on ebay for one - but expect it to go for over 500Euros - may as well buy a second hand icom 706 for that money AND it will work a damn sight better.
Still, there's me STILL trying to get hold of the MUCH RARER SUPERSTAR 7000DX.

Beat that!

I have seen a few Cobra MK5'S on ebay over the years and they don't seem to go for more than £200. I know there are better radios on the market but I love the old Cobra radios. Only 500 were made...I wonder how many are left.

im reckoning not that many.
best to buy one, put it on the mantelpiece and look at it - dont use it! Too rare to use!!!
The Mk5 just goes to prove that us naughty cb'ers will pay silly money for a pretty cb rig

A modern radio? No no no...Must be a Cobra MKV. I know one will be coming on Ebay this week but Ebay prices are getting stupid. Oh well I will just have to keep looking.
