Yaesu FT-840 issue
Good evening guys....I have an FT-840 on it's way to me which I suspect is not wide banded. I have read the mod guidance for this job and whilst I'm not an electronics engineer or a Ham I'm minded to leave it in the safe hands of an expert, my eyes arent equipped for the job! Does anybody have any suggestions of the right person in the Cheshire area? Many thanks for your help.

Re: Yaesu FT-840 issue
Thats useful Al.....cheers. Has anybody had any radio repairs or mods done by Jan from Ham Radio Supplies in Runcorn? Any 'guesstimates' on how much widebanding the 840 would cost?.....many thanks in advance guys.

Re: Yaesu FT-840 issue
Jan got back to me today by email.....cost would be £15-£20, would need it for a couple of hours. Seems reasonable. Got to be done.....!!!

Re: Yaesu FT-840 issue
Well it arrived today, FT-840. The seller was right, not a single mark anywhere on the fascia or casings. An absolutley perfect example so I'm a little pleased to say the least, it's a bit like christmas morning!!
Plugged it in, gave it centre stage and wow what a difference on receive. I need to get the 'jist' of the operating manual but it does seem quite easy. Wideband mod needed ASAP!!
Ill try to get some Pics up loaded soon......

Re: Yaesu FT-840 issue
Nice one Gary, they are a very nice radio, I did look for one of them but they are getting few and far between now. Lets hope we have some good conditions for you to make good use of it! I should be able to hear you when you are on from here or up the mountain for sure. I will be on radio Sunday afternoon at some point but I`ll be on the beam and wont know where I`m pointing - its new!
Good luck with the mod and hear you on soon!
