How does and how to fix internet/radio problem

right.... when i transmit on HF i keep trashing my internet. BT cap me at a low rate of Kbps because the line se's a fault(something to do with me transmitting)so they cap me. it happend for about 3 weeks a couple of months ago and i thought it might be indoor uhf antenna, this time it is happening when i transmit on 6.670 through the dipole.. what could be causing this and how to go about fixing it? i'm sure loads of people use comps near radios so there must be summit(unless all you internet is slow and you havnt looked?). is the answer chokes and if so where to put them, i have tried one on the phoneline leaving the house and another over all the ethernets and dsl cable coming out of router. still interfered and at the mo i got 300Kbps, lol very slow

Never heard of this Paddy.

I use both wirless, ethernet and even mobile internet very close to my radio's. Even on high power makes no difference at all. nothing seems to effect either no matter what?

I dont know but sounds like a different issue. never heard of "capping" and I have no idea why BT should restrict your internet, regardless of other outside issues?

BTW I too have BT internet emoticon

I'll do some research, but it doesnt sound right somehow emoticon

Re: How does and how to fix internet/radio problem

i done a bit of searching last night and found a tech forum, this guys neighbour was a radfio ham and everytime he used the radio the other guys internet went down and then restarted at a low speed. cut a long story short the ham raised the antenna a bit and moved it away from the guys house and it solved the problem.
I also read it could be the bell wire resonating and thus BT think theres a problem with my line cos it has dodgy rf readins on their computer which is why they cap your IP profile to a small amount, just incase there is a line fault.
I am going to move the antenna a bit further away from the house, i might have to rethink it a bit as i will have to put up a support. I know its radio related because i spoke to someone in Ire yesterday(6664)and it cut out the router/internet and then restarted at a slow speed(and stil slow now).
anyway i have ordered a BT i-plate to go on the phone socket to se if this helps and moving the antenna SHOULD hopefully sort it out. Its a pain in the arse cos everytime i have to ring asian BT to get them to change my IP profile back up to 4Meg from the 300K i'm gettin at the mo.
oh yeh,,, has anyone got any spare ferrite rings or clip on chokes? have cash waiting here, if not i will by expensive ebay ones emoticon

Re: How does and how to fix internet/radio problem

i spose all the wires about act as antennas and resonate when transmitin, i was using about 60 watts when it cut out the router and was on HF. I have also suffered with this same problem while using UHF on a indoor antenna a few months ago, hopefully UHF will be ok when i get my colinear on the mast. Bit gutted though as i dont know where else i could put the end of my dipole, i suppose i could try puttin the end between the houses up higher but i might be looking at a vertical down the end of garden for HF?? if its not 1 thing its another emoticon
