Re: PS2 owners rejoice! I went and bought it on the day that I posted, and I haven't played anything else since.
It roped me in faster than it's predecessor (an amazing feat in and of itself), the plot (thus far) is airtight, the translation is perfect, the voice acting is spectacular, and the Social Link and combat systems have had all the minute flaws and annoyances carefully weeded out. I do believe this is the most engaging and fun JRPG I have ever played, bar none.
The tl/dr version: It's great!
