Final Fantasy IV Review( Nintendo DS)

Image

Platform(s): Nintendo DS
Developer(s): Square Enix and Matrix Software
Publisher(s): Square Enix
Release Date(s) July 22, 2008
Genre(s): Single player, RPG, Multiplayer
Rating: ESRB E10+

Introduction: This is a re-make of the original game, Final Fantasy IV for NES console. Although, this game has become alot harder than the original, but it is still fun has new functions in the game the original didn't have. It seems the battle mode is similar to the other previous DS Final Fantasy games, but in my opinion, I think this is the best RPG game for Nintendo DS.

NOTE: The storline, gameplay graphics ect. were all written by ME. The storyline might be the same words like other sites but that's mostly what the true storyline is. Please do not copy my review and put it on ANY site/forum without my permission. Thank you.

Storyline:emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Cecil, The Red Wing of Baron has stolen a crystal from the Mysidians, an artifact that has an uknown source of energy that shares nothing but pure, silent light. The King of Baron didn't say a word or say "thank you" for stealing the crystal. Cecil doesn't understand why he must do such violence to innocent people in Mysidia. The king sends Cecil and Kain to Mist Cave and his journey to revealing everything awaits!

Responce: I think the plot of the game rushes into the character introduction too much because they don't tell a little bit of their story of what happened in their past untill later in the game. I know that games like Mario doesn't introduce him, but Mario has been shown more than 15 times, and the characters were only showned twice in this game(first was NES version). But I like how the story begins that makes players that just started the game gets the player exited and keeps playing and wonder what will happen next in the game.

Gameplay: emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I think they did an awesome job on the role playing battle mode, I love the animations the characters have for each skill they cast such has Fire, Cure, Esuna, etc. I love the boss battles, they are so challenging which makes the battle very fun and takes alot of time to beat those hard battles so that the game feels like it's longer to beat the game. Another thing that takes a long time to do is grind exp so you can be powerfull enought to face high level monsters or bosses, so dont rush into the game and take your time grinding alot of exp so you can be stronger. The controls are very smooth and easy to get use to the controls, if you dont like moving with the button, then you can use the stylus to move your character by guiding your character with the stylus.

Graphics/Cutscenes:emoticon emoticon emoticon

Though, the intro of the game had amazing graphics, the actual gameplay graphics itself has changed into a different type of graphics. They made the characters turn into mini forms of the characters. I have no problem with that but they could've worked on making character expressions on their faces to make the game look more epic. The creaters of the game try to show the characters cry by simpily making them close their eyes. Now the cutscene voices were kind of sqeaky. What I mean by that is they didn't do a good job editing the voices because sometimes you can hear the voices too high pitched that it makes a little sqeaky noice in on your volume. I'm glad they tryied to make the cutscenes enthusiastic as possible, but sad parts they don't do very well trying to make them make them cry at someone that died. But overall, I think the graphics are better than the cutscenes since the enviorment and monster battles looks beautiful.

Music: emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

This is one of the most excellent and important pieces of this game, the game looks so epic with very epic music!!! Without this music, the game would fall into dirt. I absolutely love the music, you can even talk to the fat chocobo and go in music box, you can listen to every song in the game. You would not be disapointed of the loads of fantastic music they have to offer in this game! They have such sad, heroic, and mysterious types of music that fits well in the storyline of Final Fantasy IV for Nintendo DS!

Conclusion: emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Basicaly every Final Fantasy fan's favorite type of RPG game with fun, addicting, challenging, side-questing, secret items, exp grinding, and boss battle; twists. Even if this is a re-make of the original NES version, it doesn't hurt to try out the game and the battle system with actual fighting action animations! You can buy this game for about $30.00 in USA and in Canada(I think so) is $40.00.

Pros: Great graphics
Amazing storyline
Many secret items
Smooth controls
Very beautiful; hard working songs

Cons: Lack of tutorials for new players that don't play RPG games that much
Too high pitch voices in cutscenes

Rating:
9.1
