Laptops

*I am convinced that no forum is truly official until they have a laptops thread

So recommendations on laptops?
My dad is insisting I just get a Dell, but my tech friends threaten they'd disown me if I did. emoticon They've suggested Acer, Sony, Lenovo (never), Toshiba etc. I would like a second opinion from anyone who still gets on around here...

-Yours truly

Toshiba's generally very good, I've found.

Re: Laptops

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520, and I absolutely love it. I've heard nothing but bad things about HPs support, although, I don't know how much better anyone else's is. Sony's have never had a good reputation with anyone I've ever known. I have an HP pocket PC, and I haven't had too many problems with it. Apples seem to be the longest-lasting, but they are quite pricey. Anyways, I love my Dell for the record. And my techie, computer science major friend told me it was a good choice, as did my Mac loving fiance.
