Okay, here we go again:
Is abortion a good thing? No. Absolutely not.
In an ideal world, would abortions happen? No. Absolutely not.
Should abortion be made illegal? No. Absolutely not. That would no more cause abortions to cease than Prohibition caused people to stop drinking alcohol.
What is a better way to solve the problem? First, make birth control widely available and educate women on its use, so that unwanted pregnancies don't happen in the first place. Second, for those cases when unwanted pregnancies do occur, promote the virtues of adoption.
All right? All right. I have spoken.
I completely agree. And we should put a lot of effort into fixing the adoption system.

Re: Dun, Dun, Dun...Abortion
Abortion..... Hm, GEE, lemme THINK.
Look, I agree with an earlier post that a woman should have control over her body. The Government that is conservative and is therefore SUPPOSED to be not for less government, is a raving hypocrite on this issue.
It used to be that a conservative didn't care about one's personal life. But, no longer the case.
As far as the personal and moral end of it all, The pro-lifers need to take a look at what they're saying. They're saying that abortions are wrong, no matter what the cause of the pregnancy. They think that a woman should have to put up with a pregnancy given to her by a rapist. Nuts to that whole idea.
And, since when do pro-lifers take action and responsibility for the children that THEY force into the world? It's people like them that bring retarded and mentally incapable children into the world to burden the people in the education system THEN decide to back Dubya in cutting a healthcare plan run by the state to help those very same children. For the fascist pro-lifers, "pro-life " ends at birth.
Also, why should other people have to take care of the children that the pro-lifers bring into the world? The pro-lifers need to take in a few kids now and then, and maybe I would respect their viewpoint more than I do now.

Let me ask you a question: Do you think that all mentally retarted children should have been aborted? Or that they are really a "burden on the education system" and our healthcare system. Or maybe it's just our healthcare and educational systems that need reforming.
So, my pro-life mom that brought my little sister into the world put a a heavier burden on the educational system just because she has Downs?
I'm sorry, but I find it very disturbing that abortion is used to prevent pregnancy for women that "might" give birth to children with mental retardation just because it would make it easier for our educational system. Yeah, sure it would have made our family life easier if my sister wouldn't have been born with a mental retardation. Yes, her kindergarten teacher's life would be easier. But, what would the world miss? Beautiful smiles and hugs.
And no, I'm not pro-life.

Um...I really don't want to offend you or anything, but um...you kinda contradicted yourself in your post. So do you agree with abortion or not?

Re: Dun, Dun, Dun...Abortion
^^I think that she was saying that abortion shouldn't be something we do because we know the child will be mentally handicapped. We shouldn't abort children just because they will inconvenience us. But she's pro-choice. I'm not trying to speak for you Addie, that was just my impression.
