Re: Dun, Dun, Dun...Abortion

Heres my opinion on this...........

Is having an abortion ok????? Absolutly not..... If you look up Exodus 20:13,Deuteronomy 5:17,Matt.5:21 ,Romans 13:9 you'll find that they all have the Sixth commandment in them saying Thou Shalt Not Kill.Nowadays people get put in jail for animal abuse, and we all are like how cruel. But yet when it comes to having an abortion we act as if its no big deal. When really it is a Big Deal!!!!!!!! I'm not saying that if they have an abortion that their evil and will go to hell I'm not saying that at all.But what I'm saying is that its not right to have an abortion either.I mean if the girl is too young or isn't ready to be a mother than she shouldn't be sleeping around in the first place!!!!!!And I know its not like we can force them to raise the child either. But there is always an alternative. And that would be Adoption!!!!!! There are so many godly christian people out there in the world who would love to adopt a child because their children are already grown or because they couldn't have any of their own!!!!!!!My mom used to work on a pregnancy hotline. She used to get calls all the time from mothers who were thinking about an abortion or who were about to have one but were still hoping that someone would talk them out of it.The hotline Staff would pray for them over the telephone, talk to them and try to get them to reconsider their decision, talk to them about putting the child up for adoption if the mother decided to have the baby but didn't or couldn't raise it.Sooo what I'm saying is that having an abortion is the same thing as murder!!!!!!! I'm sorry if that seems too strong of a word...but thats how I feel. So in other words I believe that if your a pregnant teenage girl and you can't or dont want to raise a child that an abortion shouldn't even be an option to take.

Please SearchingSkeptic,Perpetua,Gollyholly or Mel let me know if I went overboard.

I'm not really sure how I stand on this. Like..........if there was someway to know why the person wanted an abortion. So that people couldn't go and have s.ex (i was thinking KJ's computer erases that word) with ten people in 1 hour and think "if I get pregnant (sp?) then I do. Abortion works for me". If somehow you could make that illegal..........but that's impossible really.

BUT if you got d or something, and didn't want to drop out of highschool and you wanted to BE somebody...then I don't think should be wrong.

i don't know...i'm all confused on what I think sould happen.

That's so sweet of you to dot things for me! emoticon
Just curious, if you believe it is wrong to sleep around (to put it directly) and use abortion as birth control, how is it justified in the case of a high school student who wants to save her reputation?

ok I'm a bit confused, but let me see if I can get this right (I really shouldn't try to think this early in the morning). If a high school girl couldn't help the fact that she became pregnant, then I'm not saying an abortion is the right thing to do. But I guess I'd say it was ok because she didn't want to even even have s.ex but was forced. And the high school student was say a senior accepted into Harvard or Yale or some BIG college so she could become...a doctor. In that case I don't think it would be right to have an abortion, but more along the lines of OK because it wasn't your fault that it happened.

alright think about this:

Colossions(sp?) 3:17 says "And whatever you do or say do it as represenitive of Jesus Christ giving thanks through him to God the Father"
Are you giving thanks to him when you do that?

What is worship? "Anytime you do anything to the glory of God"
Is that giving glory to god?

Just something to think on.

Getting an abortion, on the surface, doesn't seem like it would be 'giving thanks go God'. But then again, neithe does brushing your teeth, unless you want to go you're thanking God for your body by taking car of it (in which case, you could get an abortion to take care of your body, since carrying a pregnancy to term is more dangerous than an abortion, as Kristin has pointed out several times).

And, we sin all the time, and of course that's never thanking God. But, if we believe that all sins are the same, then getting an abortion is no worse than say, lying to your sister, of the logistics are that it's not giving thanks to God.

^I'm really not thinking that's true--that carrying a baby to full-term is more dangerous than an abortion. [although, the word abortion, as used here could bring about confusion, as even miscarrying is called a natural abortion or a spontaneous abortion] I'll talk to my doctor again; I've been working with an ob/gyn all summer. I honestly, really don't think that statement has any truth to it whatsoever.

Out of curiosity (but don't feel compelled to share if you'd rather not), are you working with a doctor for personal medical reasons or as a job?
