My dad...I'll keep it short...

Pretty much he's just not getting my life and I guess I'm just wondering if anybody has any suggestions on "comunicating" with rather uhhhh...clueless/oblivious/isolated dads... Do ya'll know what I mean? Like how do make them get something?

Find a way to relate it to sports or powertools. Threaten to take him to a chick flick. No seriously, I haven't mastered the skill of making men understand. *Sigh*

yeah....i know what u mean...my dad almost tries to avoid me sumtimes, b/c i usually end ^ getting him involved in sum girl talk which he HATES(but dont wrry, i dont talk about anything really gurly, like periods or anything like that, i dont even talk about that w/ my mom, unless im forced 2.).
maybe you could talk about a fav. movie the two of u share. or sumthing else the 2 of u both like.

Well, I can tell you that you should definitely never use powertools while playing sports - my short-lived Chainsaw Football League was a massive flop - but beyond that, I don't really have any useful advice on the subject.

Re: My dad...I'll keep it short...

Well, seeing as how I haven't even seen my dad since September, I might not be the best on the subject, but I'll try. My dad loves to explain things [it makes him feel powerful] so our best conversations came when I asked him a question about something I knew a little about, but not much, and that he knew a lot about. Usually something to do with politics. And then if that goes well, and you can prove to him that you can indeed have an intelligent conversation, then maybe he'll seek you out to have just that more. I dunno, but it worked for me.
