James 3:13-18
"13 Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good life let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.
14 But if you have bitter jealously and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.
15 This wisdom is not such as comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, devilish.
16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.
17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without uncertainty or insincerity.
18 And the harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace."
Anyone?

Re: James 3:13-18
I love the line that wisdom is "open to reason."
Gee!! So many doctors should have this kind of wisdom!
sorry...but I liked that translation...

Re: James 3:13-18
I think James again, is stressing to the tribes of Israel, how important it is, to humble yourselves. Give up prideful things, in that meekness, wisdom will come.Living the lives we should live under God's law.
Living in the world is one thing, living of the world another. Jealousy, envy, will breed a harmful heart and yield ugliness.
When we give up those prideful lusts, and keep our eyes upon Jesus, those things no longer matter. Then the wisdom, better things for us will come.
I think of Joleen tonight.
She is at perfect peace with her upcoming surgery tomorrow. I am convinced, without a shadow of a doubt, her faith, love and commitment to our Lord and Savior, has given her that peace. Wisdom? Yes that too.
She is a living example.
Thank you Father for this study. Thank you for what these words are preparing for us. How will we respond to our trials? Will we stand as courageously, as Joleen is tonight? I hope Lord I hope.
Thank you through your Living Sacrifice of your precious Son,
Amen

Re: James 3:13-18
And James tells us what heavenly wisdom is, and earlier he told us that we just need to ask God for it.
The major thing I remember realising when I got saved was that there is good and evil, lightness and dark, heavenly and earthly. Things are either of God, or of the enemy, Satan.
That really was a revelation to me and helped me great, I remember. It was part of God's wisdom that He shared with me, when I opened my heart to Him.
thanks Gale

Re: James 3:13-18
I think where some 'smart' people get hung up is in falsely thinking that they somehow could know better than God. Anyone can have intelligence, can be booksmart, or streetsmart, and perhaps perceived by others to have some degree of wisdom, but I think it is important to hone in on that element of 'truth'. It is only in knowing God's truth that we can truly be wise, and have to be careful to give God the credit for our wisdom in genuine humility.

Re: James 3:13-18
Right on Karen! James is summing up the same by saying, we will be in peace when we are in God's truth and will.
Perfect peace.
Thanks Ladies for your input and discussion.
