Daniel - Lives of Integrity; Words of Prophecy

Hello, all: Now that Gale's study of James is over, she has asked that I might share some of the study that I am doing at my Ladies' Bible Study group at my church.

I am attending a Tuesday morning study which is Women at Midlife: Embracing the Challenges by Jeanie Miley. I am sure I may have some tidbits to share from that one, but I will do that more informally in another part of the forum. Sounds like a topic for the Parkbench.

My Tuesday evening study is the one we will focus on here. It is a Beth Moore study titled: Daniel- Lives of Integrity; Words of Prophecy. If you have ever participated in a Beth Moore study, you know what a dynamic teacher she is; I couldn't possibly begin to convey the teachings of scripture as she does but I'm going to do my best to share the key points as we go along.

In her introduction to the study guide, Beth says: "Each Bible study has been a ride in one way or another. If 'The Patriarchs' was a camel ride, this one, Dear One, is a rocket ride--with the windows open."
All of her studies are pretty intense, but apparently this one will be more in depth than ever.

The first part of the study will be largely historical. The second half then deals with prophecy and endtimes.

Because of the depth of her studies, our group carries each Session over two weeks instead of one. This study is session driven, meaning the video portion with Beth's teaching is viewed before the study questions are done. Our group watches the video one week, then discusses the 'homework' in depth the next week.

Originally, what I thought I would do, is try to summarize the key points of the video one week and then share the 'homework' portion and discussion, the next. But I think it will be clearer to just take each chapter verse by verse, and since I have already had two sessions, I will simply relate the video information and discussion that's relevant to those verses. It will be great review for me as well.

It is written as an 11 week study, so obviously, with our format, this will go into Springtime. I don't know if you all want to get onboard for such a long study... Gale, Virginia: let me know if you still want me to post this as our regular Bible study, or maybe you want to make a separate forum? As administrators, moderators, you know better than I what will work best. I don't want to monopolize this forum if you have another study in mind.

I think it will evolve as I go along, so bear with me.
I know this has been a lengthy intro. Thanks for sticking with me and reading through.
I look forward to what God has for us as we share in this part of scripture.

Karen

Thank you Karen! Absolutely, if you are up to it, we will be eager readers and I am sure we will also glean information helpful to us.

Don't worry about the time, unless it gets burdensome to you. Virginia and i have already discussed it, and she is in total agreement, we would love for you to share this with us here.

Anyone caring to add questions or discussion, or just read along, we are very flexible...due to the nature of us all. No pun intended..emoticon

Again we thank you for your willingness to do this Karen and look forward to it!
God Bless you.

Gale

Karen, this sounds wonderful. I have enjoyed your intro very much. I don't know if I will be able to contribute much, been going through some rough "payback" for my 2 trips last month. But I WILL be reading and getting a lot from it, I'm sure.

love
Virginia
