Psalms I noted in my hospital journal

After an emergency re-admission I did not have my own Bible in the hospital but then found the Gideons Bible in the bedstand. What a lifeline it was for me. I wrote down some of the scriptures that really spoke to me.

I came across these notations in my hospital journal as I perused it at 3:45 this morning unable to sleep and they comfortd me again.

Ps. 18:3 I will call upon the Lord, my rock, my fortress tower, who is worthy to be praised so shall I be saved from my enemies.(pain and suffering) The sorrows of death encompassed me {and the floods of the ungodly made me afraid}...the sorrows of hell encompassed me about (intractable pain)
18:6 In my distress I called upon the Lord and cried out to my God-heard my voice out of His temple and made my cry come before Him even into His ears.

I remember imagining the temple as scripture describes- with legions singing heavenly praises, the glory all about, and yet in the midst of all that God can hear one small voice calling to him. My voice. Your voice!
Isn't that reassuring?!

Karen, the sting of tenderness came to my eyes as I first absorbed those words and the scene of the woman in bed, in total pain and suffering, searching for a lifeline and finding it within the drawer of a nightstand, then being led to just the scriptures that would lift her up and give her strength. I'm so glad you wrote those notes down and shared them with us!

You are a blessing!
