Can't See Scripts Made On My Computer

I've been working on some HTML pages in Notepad just for fun ... and learning stuff from tutorials online. When I try to incorporate a script into a page, and
I try to look at the page in the browser, (I am using IE 7) it pops up with something about Internet Explorer not letting me see scripts that can interact
with my computer ... I don't know exactly how it was worded. I click the OK button and see the HTML part of the page but not the script. I figured this was because the script was on the same computer. But I'd like to see my script, so how can I fix it so I can see it?

I was doing javascript (I didn't try any of the others), but when the message pops up, it says scripts (I'm guessing just any kind of general script); it doesn't specify javascript.

You could try adjusting your IE security settings through
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Custom

Image Here's a screen grab if you need it.

Other than that, I really don't have a clue without seeing the javascript itself or knowing what you're trying to do with it.

For example, Runboard's clickable smilies will work with most people's security settings, but some people can't use the font "color" button without adjusting them first. Both functions use javascript, but different browser settings will affect each js function differently.

Of course, there could be an error in the javascript itself, but I would also need to see the javascript in order to determine that.

I did what you suggested, but it still hkept happening. But then I went to one of those tutorials I had been reading, and I guess I just missed a part where
it noted the message that popped up for IE users ... it was something like "you'll get a message that says '... click here for options..."; then I saw that
and so clicked it and figured out how to see the script! emoticon

Ah, so it was a security popup, but not the kind I was thinking of. You got the bar up top, I take it?
