My eyes are wide open, but your link doesn't go anywhere. You might want to try opening your own eyes.

Re: open your eyes
I wouldn't trust anything that comes from the fox news channel since they (fox news) have a habit of leaning way too far to the right in their "fair and balanced" reporting.

Re: open your eyes
I saw part of it, but I couldn't help but think it was just a bit biased.

Re: open your eyes
That's typical of "Faux News." They are never fair, and they are always unbalanced in their "coverage."
Since p4p never posted an actual link to the story, you are probably the only one here who has seen even part of it, Dorotea. So let me ask you, as someone who recognizes the bias, do you think they took some (if not all) of "their OWN words" out of context? Knowing "Faux News," I suspect the answer would be yes, some/most/all of what they said was taken out of context.

Re: open your eyes
The part I saw was about female suicide bombers and how if they blew themselves up that it's the only way that their husbands would love them. Then they said that in the Quran that women served two functions - child-rearing and pleasing their husbands. Acutually, the Quran is one of the few holy texts that says "he or she" when talking about rights, so who's more fair?

Re: open your eyes
As far as I know, most suicide bombers believe martydom is a surefire way into heaven, and I'm sure a lot of us realize how much martyrs are revered. Now, if a man doesn't love his wife while she's still alive, then I can't see him truly loving her after she martyrs herself; but if they share the same beliefs, he may respect her afterward, and probably feel like a coward for not doing it himself.
I've never actually spoken with anyone with these beliefs (that I know of), so I had to base the above statement on what I've read and heard in the media from those who do and combine it with my understanding of psychology.
Re: Quran saying women serve two functions:
It wasn't too long ago that a lot of Americans seemed to think child rearing and pleasing their husbands were all a woman was supposed to do as well. But hey, at least a woman had two functions, and men only had the one function of bringing home a paycheck. So what's so different in that respect between Islam and, say, America in the 1930's?

Re: open your eyes
Good point. I could ponder about this stuff for days and still have no conclusive thoughts. Hmm...
