Election

Before i say anything else, I'd like to say that I have the utmost respect for the men and women who have been prepared to go out to the war and I feel that those who have died did so with the very best of intentions. Even though I have always disagreed with the ideas behind the war, I do not in any way dishonor the soldiers.
Having said that, please look at my election board and comment on the first debate. I watched the whole thing this morning and formed my opinions on the two candidates and what they had to say. I now would love to see what you think of what a complete outsider thinks of your two candidates.

Thank you Lesa, I know you've said that before. I don't know why politics in general and the US in particular interests me so much.
I think possibly because when we lived under Apartheid, your politics made so much sense to me, I so much wanted to run away from the repression here to a land where I thought people were free.
I remember during the Vietname war when there was trouble at your universities, the Nats used that as an excuse to clamp down on any dissidence at ours; when you had the civil rights movement going on and Martin Luther King, the Nats said "see that's what happens if you let Black people get a foot in the door".
We so much wanted that kind of freedom in our own country and now we have it and it's great. It really pains me to see what the present administration has done to destroy all the things that were to be admired about the US, and I really hope that the new administration will repair the damage.
