backcountry camping
me and Cheri just got back from back country camping in the smokey mountains... we spent three days in pretty much total seclusion, though we didn't see one bear, or any other animals for that matter, though PLENTY of mosquito's were present! our first day we had a very tough hike, we hiked a little over 6 miles with our heavy packs on laden with camping gear, 4 uphill and 2 downhill, both pretty steep... i was on the verge of insanity because of how physically demanding it was! but we finally found our site. apparently we took the long way, we would have arrived there much earlier on a 1.2 mile hike on relatively flat ground if we parked elsewhere...
night up there is spooky, but very nice as well.
we also managed to see a small part of the Cherokee reservation. though what we saw was pretty much a tourist trap.

Re: backcountry camping
Didja see Queeny when you were there?
I was wondering where you went. I hope you had more fun than that sounded (yucky mosquitoes), and I'm glad you didn't go too crazy.

Re: backcountry camping
She lives everywhere in her RV, and is taking a road trip all summer. In May, she posted pictures of the elk they saw in the Rockies.
