How are ppl finding the game so far ?
Almost a week since release, and some have played it at early release.
What do u guys think about it ?
As for me, it just not really getting to me - and i dont know why tbh.
The graffics are awsome, and the combat system is cool - but the casters just plain sucks.
There is something magic missing in the game and gameplay - cant put my finger on it.
You cant really compare spells or melee attack to each other, since there is no dmg listed on any spells or combos - and the only steady dps output is the melees.
Caster dps can varry alot, even on the same mobs - and its not crittical hits versus normal im talking about.
And the armor and items all look alike - you can customize ur char down to the cheekbones - but as far as lvl 30-40 all ppl still look the same - same borring colorless and graficless armor.
But whats most gameplay killing is all the instanced zones ur playing in - making it really hard to get the mmorpg feeling.
im thinking of the game of a plain and simple singleplayer game atm, like nwn2 or something.
Cant see my self lvling a toon to 80 tbh - having more fun lvling a wow toon from scratch tbh - and thats after having lvled 8 lvl 70s hehehe.

Re: How are ppl finding the game so far ?
I'm really enjoying AOC sofar its different enough from WOW that it feels fresh and new yet familiar enough that you can dive straight in without feeling overwelmed by the new gameplay mechanics.
Can't comment on the spellcaster issues made in the previous post as I have not played a caster/healer yet but as a former Warrior/hunter in WOW I can say the melee classes in conan have alot more depth in combat.
I agree with the above post as far as the game feeling like a single player game at least for the first 20 lvls but that is because Funcom originally intended the game to be single player up till 20 when game world opens up to you more.
On the whole I'd say AOC has made a very good first impression on me, that may change as I move up the lvls but for now things are looking good.

Re: How are ppl finding the game so far ?
I'm still undecided as yet - I really don't think I've had enough time to play it to decide. I'm trying to juggle raiding, playing some AoC AND spending time doing RL stuff as well - and my gf hated me enough as it was with only 1 online game going on!
Its different to WoW, and yet also similar in many ways. I find it much more put-downable than WoW, and I don't feel in any hurry to get to level 80, or to have one specific main character.
What I do enjoy about it at the moment is that it gives me something to do when I have nothing to do on WoW. Some days recetly on WoW I just haven't wanted to (or been able to) instance, have only Qs on alts left to do, have nothing really to grind for on Varden - other than food/mats etc. for the good of the guild. So on AoC I have found the old 'spark' of experiencing new Qs and new areas, and just plain solo play or group play with new stuff.
Personally I don't like the combat system much at all - but that could just be me. I get the feeling that I'm just smashing buttons as fast as I can and in any random order, until the mob goes down - mainly because that is what I'm doing. I like the spellcasting animations, and I like a lot of the ideas (the healing and group buffing is done nicely, as is the group experience, and the leveling).
I'm just feeling my way at the moment, starting something new, leveling it a bit - playing the night mode (solo content) - grouping with people - playing another character - exploring - things like that.
I still stick by my first impression - its not imo the WoW killer, and it hasn't taken my interest away from WoW. I am however, liking it as something that stops me standing in the bank in Shat, only online just to sort out guild things or to chat with people. Its nice and new, not awesome as yet - but nice.

Re: How are ppl finding the game so far ?
I'm really enjoying it, and probably will even more when I upgrade my PC. Right now my video options are pretty much all off, just to be able to move my char.
I love my class, I like the way its not so simple as WoW, you actually have to think rather than just point at someone and spam the same spell til the boss is dead.

Re: How are ppl finding the game so far ?
Aye i must admit - you cant just spam one spell all the time and pwn. Different mobs and packs, requires different ways of playing.
Im mainly playing my priest of mitra now - seems like the best choice if i wanna play a castertype.
But the tempest og set is nice too, but again - a caster/healer.
Just too bad they made the quests after lvl 20 as text like in the 80s rpgs - instead og just making it like wow and u can click accept. The mini maps points u to the direction anyway hehe.
