Re: So who's giving this one a try then?

Well I finally got access to the open beta on this last night.. emoticon

My first impression is WOW.. This really is in terms of graphics, UI and playstyle a replica of WOW..
Its a little bit less high-fantasy.. (meaning less cartoon style graphics - but nowhere near AOC)
But smooth and low-lag all the same emoticon

I only tried the dwarve race (little fu&*ers) - an engineer.. Was in a 4 man group and got to level 6 in about 5 hours.. Participated in a few 'public' quests (where you group with all in the area to acheive the 'goal') the rolls on loot are influence based.. A rather cool idea imo - the more you contribute (by tanking, healing or dps) the more you get a bonus to your roll on the loot.. (+500 if you finish 1st in the list) rolls are out of 1000

This game is primarily PVP based (so those who like pvp in wow will absolutely love this.. )
With pvp rewards based on 'renown rank' - a mirror system of xp for pvp (you get pve xp at the same time too emoticon ) so you can level from 1-40 by just pvping (how sweet - some might say) PVP gear (or RR) is available to purchase as you level your RR so no drops or marks of honour required emoticon

Really looking forward to trying the other 5 races (19 char types) and imo - would recommend any1 who's looking for that little bit extra (from wow) should try this..

Unfortnately 'Destruction' (the wow equivilent to hoard) is way overpopulated atm in beta so i personally chose to go with the underdog (makes it a bit more fun and less crowded to pve)

Will update this as i play a bit more..

WAAARGH

B

HA! If Skaven was a playable race that would be imba, and the Caos armies would already have won!

I quite fancy the Witch Hunter class myself based on the tabletop game, but meah they made them too rogue'ish from what I could see.

To answer the question I will try it out, but will borrow a friends account to do so first just to see.

Re: So who's giving this one a try then?

Ive been playing Open Beta since launch on sunday.

So far I'm very impressed with what I've seen, but then I am an old Dark Age of Camelot player so I knew what this was goign to be like with the old RvR from there.

I got the collectors edition so Im in the headstart event that starts this weekend (basically 5 days of access to the live servers before public launch). My plan is to play predominantly Order - looks like Warhammer is a complete oppositte to WOW with the "good guys" being outnumbered. The major difference with this game is that once you chose a side on a server your not allowed to roll the oppositte side (to prevent spying - and in my experiance of DAOC they dont like people with multiple accounts trying the same).

I'll post which server Im rolling my Dwarf IronBreaker on (Stunties FTW!!), but I am goign to be rolling a destruction character on another server (most likely Dark Elf or Orc).

If anyone feels like joining me your more than welcome emoticon

So cant really afford it but what the heck :P

The idea of playing a class that can blow itself up is very appealing to me emoticon

Well its impressed me so far and i havent even gotten to the pvp yet!

So far ive tried a Dark Elf Sorceress, Chaos Magus and a Goblin Shaman. Its still early stages but i think i may be taking the Shaman further.

True to the desktop the Greenskins have humourous names for their spells as well as having a more comical starting zone. Ive already been shot out of a catapult and crammed an unconscious Stunty (Dwarf) into a barrel and lobbed em off a cliff. Ah good times.

The career Shaman itself has an interesting feature. Everytime you cast a damaging spells in succession, Moork (the healing god), gets more and more jealous (stacking up to 5 times) so he gives the next healing spell you cast a boost which can either be a reduced cast time or increased effectiveness. The same goes for Goork. Whenever you cast healing spells in succession Goork gets jealous (stacking up to 5 times) and gives the next damage spell you cast a boost. This means that if you've specced to be a healer and youre sitting around healing your big Orc buddies from the back then some dirty Stunty gets the jump on yer, rather than trying to fend him off using your unspecced damage spells, you can turn around and blast him in the face with an extra powerful strike. Hooray for Goork!

So yeah... Shaman for me i think :P

Then again my Chaos Magus flies around on a giant spinning disc...

Myself, Nuna and Caerina demonstrate one of the reasons to give this game a try: to mindlessly run around as scantally clad Dark Elves slaughtering unicorns and other gentle magical beasts into extinction.

Image

All that slaughtering can really tire a girl out so it's back to the nearest encampment for a quick rest.

From left to right: Disciple of Khaine, Sorceress, Witch Elf.

Image

You can dye your armor, just what any blood thirsty maiden of Khaine needs to avoid those embarassing same dress situations.

Those Unicorns were purely in self defence.

Also...

BOOBS
