Academy Award-winner Jennifer Hudson celebrated her pregnancy today at a downtown baby shower, a source told the Chicago Sun-Times.

A source tells the Sun-Times that Jennifer Hudson celebrated her pregnancy with a baby shower on Saturday.

The source said the actress and singer is seven months pregnant.

The shower was largely attended by family members, the source said.

Rumors have been rampant that Hudson and fiancee David Otunga, a former reality-TV star training to wrestle professionally, were expecting a baby.

She recently postponed dates on her concert tour with Robin Thicke, claiming vocal cord strain. She has worn loose-wasted tops at some recent public appearances, furthering the speculation.

Hudson and Otunga have been planning a wedding. While they haven’t divulged the date, Hudson previously said she planned to include her three dogs — Oscar, Grammy and Dreamgirl — in the ceremony.

Hudson’s publicist did not return a phone call seeking comment today. In April, the publicist denied the rumors, telling the Sun-Times Hudson wasn’t pregnant.

Jennifer Hudson's baby shower confirms the news

A weekend baby shower in downtown Chicago confirmed what has long been rumored: Jennifer Hudson is pregnant.

“It was a baby shower, a quiet gathering of friends and mostly family,” singer/actress Felicia Fields, a longtime Hudson friend, said of Saturday’s get-together in a relative’s home. “They’re really trying to keep it kind of quiet.”

South Side native Hudson, the 27-year-old singing star who won the 2006 best supporting actress Oscar for “Dreamgirls,” is engaged to former reality TV star David Otunga, who’s currently pursuing a pro wrestling career. Hudson has said she no longer would live in Chicago after her mother, Darnell Donerson, brother Jason and nephew Julian King were found murdered in October, with William Balfour, the estranged husband of Jennifer’s sister Julia, charged with the crimes.

Hudson recently finished a co-headlining concert tour with singer Robin Thicke, with an April 25 show at the Arie Crown Theatre. Her manager and publicist previously denied that she is pregnant.

"It was a nice time that we had," Fields said of the shower. She didn’t want to get into when the baby is due, but speculation is that Hudson is many months along—an impression bolstered by her appearance of late.

As for whether Hudson received blue or pink gifts, Fields said, “They don’t know [the gender]. More yellow.”

CONGRATS to singer Jennifer Hudson who is with child thanks to her fiance, reality star and soon-to-be pro wrestler, David Otunga. Hudson had a secret baby shower here over the weekend. This columnist broke that story in Sunday's Sun-Times. I understand the family is not happy that the word has finally gotten out ... so sorry that I scooped, "ET," "Access Hollywood," "The Insider," "Inside Edition," etc., but hey, life happens, and I wish the couple all the happiness in the world.

I am also glad they are planning to wed later this year ... which is definitely the right thing to do. Hudson is from the Englewood community, as am I.

It is my opinion that...

Good for Felicia for speaking up for J-Hud since nobody else had the guts to do it! Now Jennifer Hudson can walk with her head held high instead of hiding God's blessing in shame while promoting her fiancee in his quest for the spotlight and appearing knocked up!

Jennifer Hudson is going to have a beautiful child with or without being married to the father and she can focus on her career now and the well-being of the baby instead of the grown "Harvard" educated, wrestling wannabe baby's daddy .

God bless the child.

Dreamgirls star Anika Noni Rose says Jennifer Hudson will be the perfect mother.

"She will be a great, amazing and loving mom," Rose told PEOPLE at a party for Grey's Anatomy star Chandra Wilson's Broadway performance in Chicago on Monday in New York. "Having seen her with babies myself, that baby of hers is going to have a good time and be much loved."

The Tony winner and star of HBO's The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency says Hudson will ease into motherly duties. "She loves babies and now that she going to be a mother herself, this experience is going to be fun and rewarding for her. She will have no problems taking on the responsibilities."

Hudson, who has not yet announced publicly that she is expecting her first child with fiancé David Otunga, reportedly celebrated with a baby shower in Chicago in May.

"I just hope that with a baby that each day brings her joy and the ability to come back to her wonderful self," Rose said of her friend whose mother, brother and nephew were murdered last year. "It's been a harrowing year for her and I hope that she finds comfort, joy and support and that she can move forward with her new baby."
