Horsetail Tea

Hii everyone emoticon
Anyone ever tried to wash the hair with horsetail tea?
It is supposed to strengthen the hair and accelarate the growth process.

Re: Horsetail Tea

I've heard its good for your hair too, as is washing it with chamomile tea to bring out the natural highlights of fair hair.

Here's a little nugget of info...

Chamomile: Another very useful herb for hair, traditionally used for lighter colour hair.

Horsetail: Helps brittle hair due to its high silica content.

Mint: Stimulates the scalp due to its action on the blood capillaries.

Nettle: Treats dandruff and stimulates hair growth

Rosemary: Excellent for all hair types and problems, especially hair growth.

Sage: Traditionally used to restore colour to greying hair. As a hair rinse, it removes dandruff.

Thyme: Good for oily hair and dandruff.

Anyone confirm any of this is true?

Would it be safe to combine all those in one shampoo?

use about 500ml white wine vinegar, a few springs of nettles, lavender springs/rosemary (or other nice smelling springs, either dried already or fresh) You can use mint, tea tree etc, whatever you want. Also, use a few drops of pure essential oil of your chosen herbs.

put white wine vinegar into a pan, add the nettles and simmer for about 2hrs.

(if you're using fresh lavender/rosemary springs you'll want to dry them in a low temperature oven for about 2 hours while the nettle is simmering)

After the 2 hours, add the lavender/whatever springs + a few drops of the essential oil and stir up well, the vapours will release and take away some of the harshness of the vinegar.

put into a bottle and spray onto hair every other night, or use it as a final rinse when you wash your hair !

the nettle is good to make your hair shiny, the vinegar to clean, mint/tea tree to soothe and help your scalp as they are mildly anti-bacterial, lavender because it smells good !

Kelp (seaweed) tablets are helpful for hair growth + hardening nails, you can buy it in most healthfood stores.

*forgot to say, once you've made the vinegar rinse, you need to sieve it through material so the solid plant bits don't get into the bottle !
