i think you are over-analyzing it. good grammer isn't necessary to make a point, atleast until its taken out of context, which i guess this has been.
i liked it when he said it. i think he was talking about the recession and how, even if we don't feel it so much were we are, **** is getting really hard else where.
anyway, i think thats how i understood it at the time. been looking for a new one lately, but nothing has struck me.
yellowfeather- you know, i tried to convince those folks to go skinny dipping with me, but they were all prudes! i'm sure they thought i was strange for bring it up! anyway, no one got naked.

no, i think you're over-analyzing it. i was only speaking on the word "don't".
i mean i'm no expert on tumbleweeds, but it's when the tumbleweed is rolling by that there ain't **** going on, correct?
as in.. jonsparrow wrote:

that wasn't really the point of my post however.
PS- it's spelled grammar, .

Re: Drunken Spelunkin' and other ranch tales...
spelling is not one of my strong points, but hey, i got phonetics down pat!
i guess in a sense, tumbleweeds rolling by means nothing is going on, but sparrow was refering to the "nothing going on" that happens in a depression, which he refered to as "**** going down."
the statement reminded me of the dustbowl of the 1930's. they saw tumbleweeds.
in austin, we have hardly felt the recession, so there's still lots of hustle and bustle and shopping and buying and general activity around austin proper. we don't see tumbleweeds here. however, in detroit, **** is baaaad. buisnesses closing and once lively market districts are becoming barren. they probably don't see tumbleweeds either, but i bet theres lots of trash, blowing around in front of closed shops and empty streets. there's nothing going on there.
anyway, the recession looked different that the great depression, yet many people are losing everything.
thats what that meant when i "sigged" it, made perfect sense to me.
now that i've spent a ridiculous amount of time over-explaining, what was your point?
