Gotcha. I can definitely respect that. It can quickly get annoying.

If I may say a thing or two I'd like to. I don't intend sound "preachy" or anything like that. Imagine this: a person finds the cure to cancer...not a pill, but a standard of life. He then tells people this secret and tells them to tell others. Some may reject it; some may accept it. Centuries later you're told this secret, it saves your life, and in return you seek to tell others. More than likely you'll be so excited that you will express this miracle without thought and without any tactfulness. This will inevitably turn off, and maybe piss off, your listeners.

Well being a Christian means that we were once "diseased" by what we call sin, accepted the cure (Jesus), and in the beginning we run around excited, which we should be, but express this revelation without much thought or tactfulness when speaking with people. It's human nature...so it's understandable many of you may be tired of RedeemedOne posting unrelenting posts about Christian spirituality. However, please don't judge Jesus or His Church based upon the words or actions of His followers.

That's my two cents. :)

Nice dreads JhanisMum!

I hear exactly what you're saying darlin'.I'm no Christian but I have the greatest respect for Jesus and what he was trying to do. emoticon
But I must say,I don't think that redeemed one is doing his cause any favours at all.

hey redeemedone, i read posts of yours that are disrespectful towards others and their beliefs all the time. just in case you didn't know you did that. constantly. i don't think your God would like that.

i feel like, if you did some in depth research on how to socially interact with people, maybe you would have more success in getting your point across. usually, your posts come off sounding exactly like what all of us "sinners" hate about organized religion.

also, perhaps a new combination of meds.

This dudes living a life of some false comfort, or hope. I consider anyone to believe in any religion to be weak minded. Or, cant even think for themselves. Get a grip on reality, no ones gonna come down from the sky, and take you to some promise land. That's like trying to believe that you will be saved by any type of comfort that you can fall back on when your in a time of need. I wish people could get with humanity. There's no one, but yourself. And, only you can save yourself. But too each their own, and if redeemed your right when I die. You can laugh in my face all you want, when I'm doing my thing in hell.

[resisting the urge to take offense] i am not weak-minded.

i wonder if you can see how dejected a position yours seems to a person of faith. from the standpoint of religious/spiritual faith, people who espouse your view are forever missing something, like listening to a foreign film without being able to see what's happening.

well when ever to people disagree on whats true, both sides tend to see that the other isnt seeing something.

to us it looks like there's a false bargain going on... follow god's commands (no matter how insane or apparently evil because you're not allowed to question them) and you get heaven for eternity, or you go to hell instead.

it looks like people are so concerned about the lack of a safety net that they're just kidding themselves into thinking its there.

on the other hand i kinda think your movie analogy applies without the direction being reversed.
its like people are wasting chunks of their life trying to pray 5 times a day while pointing at mecca hoping it gets them somewhere good, when there's nothing really at mecca (of significance to an atheist). its like you've watched some movie/fictional piece and misunderstood that it doesnt apply to reality so you thinnk you see something there when there isnt.

a big factor giving the appearance of weak minded is the comfort factor in it.
all your dead loved ones - theyre actually fine
all the people that have committed atrocities - come to justice
the inevitable death that no one can escape (no one lives forever) - actually its just a change of location
done horrible things that no one can forgive - go to confession and have it all repented away

also the idea that theres always someone who loves you, no matter what. unconditional love becomes a bit less important in some ways. its like the geeky kid in school going "but my mamma thinks im cool".
and this unconditional love comes from an all powerful person...

is it whats most likely to be true, or is it what you'd most like to be true.
