Dunno. No idea. I just remember her giving an interview in some rag and talking about how bad it is in Hollywood and the beauty stereotypes that go around. She couldn't get work at times because of her locks. I believe it was The Colour Purple, but she had to cut her locks off to play the role. That's a bit more than typecasting for beauty, slaves were not allowed to have locks, but still. Nobody should have to cut their locks for anything.

When she was still doing standup she had a real tough time getting gigs because her locks were far to "political" and most clubs didn't want to touch her with a ten foot pole.

I have a lot of respect for her. I can't agree with her cutting off her locks, but I have mad respect for her.
