Thanks, it has definitely been a leap of faith to dread. I had them years ago, and I'd always wanted to give it another go, but just put it off (work....just work) but I woke up and it was the day to start. I get to stay home now (3 kids), so I don't have to worry too much about it. HOnestly, the only thing that bugs me is the looks I get from the moms when I take my oldest to dance class (she's really into it). I used to get a little conversation from them once in a while, but now you'd think I;'m contagious. Oh well, I've never been one to really give a **** about comformity, but I just hope the kids don't catch **** about it. I love hats, especially at teachers conferences:)
Yup! Most of the time I do pretty well. I've noticed though that small kids seem to be fascinated with my hair. Drawn to it in a way.... And I've noticed when this happens their parents usually take a rather "protective" stance. They are clearly "leary" of me.
And my other crap experience was being chaperone at my daughters high school dance. I was mistaken for one of the kids by another chaperone (told if I left the building, i wouldn't be let back in). That got cleared up. But for the rest of the night all the other adults at the dance had a responsibility. (watching exit doors and off limit areas of the school and such) I had NO responsibility...and just mingled around with the kids. The adults never made eye contact...or talked to me.
It was so weird!

Re: befores and afters
Yea, I read that on the insults board....sucks right? My oldest is 7, so the kids are cool, like you said, but the parents act like I put my joint out in the ash tray right before I walk her in class. No eye contact....whatever. My hubby had dreads a few years ago, and now people don't even recognize him (he cut his hair, and owns his own company), and when they realize who he is, it's like a look of "huh?" on thier faces. Their respect turns to judgement then back to respect, because he doesn't **** around and doesn't let them take his energy, you know? Life in FlorAlatucky..... it don't git no bedder thin this here....LOL
