dread's tips: cut em or look stupid

Hey! It's me again with my whining.
I'd like advice about my loose tips. I don't think the tips will ever lock. Since they were backcombed, and backcombed is not the real thing, they became loose and only the naturally locked hair are dreads now. (except the dreads on the front of my head because i'm not sleeping on them i guess)
Almost all of them were rebackcombed some months after it was first made, and now they are loose so those will never lock i think. I can backcomb, rub, use crochet hook, after some washes, they are simple hair again.
So my question is should i cut the tips and if yes, should i cut the front ones too so i won't look stupid with long dreads on front and short ones on the back OR don't do anything and keep looking even more stupid with my Chewbacca-like hair? emoticon
Ye ye i know that i shouldn't care about others' opinion, but i just can't help it.
The most serious one is 10cm (4 inches) knotted with 15cm (6 inches) simple hair.

(Btw, i think the shrinking is over, i even have some awesome congos. emoticon )

My dreads aren't dreads. I can ensure you my tips will never lock. It's just common sense. How can 15cm of hair knot into a dread without any movement? I WILL have to cut the tips. Now, or 5 years later, i don't think it matters.

You don't think 5 years makes a difference? Do not cut your tips if you don't want to mess things up irrevocably. It is common for there to be undreaded hair at the tips and at the base of dreads. How long have you had your dreads?

the tips can dread, so your common sense is wrong.
the tips can curl up eventually and tangle up
with the rest of the dread.
some might, but many may not.

if your worried about it, just cut the tips
with a razer or something

Re: dread's tips: cut em or look stupid

And i know that's not much, but i've never seen backcombed dreads this loose. And everyone's annoying me. They say it shouldn't look like that, i'm just so FKIN tired of it.

I've alrdy said it on this forum, but here in my country most ppl have waxed superperfect "dreads". Not that i want to be like them...
