dread's tips: cut em or look stupid
There will be dissent about what dreads look good, and which sets not so good. But this is the way of the world. Some of my favorite sets are sets that would appall others, while other sets I don't like the look of as much, and others do. But if a set is apocryphal, that is, if a set is thoroughly waxed or glued, or just twists, then I disqualify it in my mind from consideration at all. You have real dreads, so be happy about that for starters. Secondly, if you want an aesthetic evaluation on your dreads, then I would be glad to give you my opinion, and help you to achieve an aesthetic you would prefer. Your aesthetic cannot fully be trusted because you are a novice at this whole thing. So post some pics.

Re: dread's tips: cut em or look stupid
Loose tips are normal. Your dreads are still young, too. Tips can sometimes dread, sometimes not, naturally; sometimes tips can dread naturally over time, after not having done so early on. They can be manually rounded and dreaded, too.
I know it's frustrating when they don't look the way you want them to, but time really is the most important factor. Your hair is new and very short. I suppose you could backcomb your tips and then fasten a band on them, but you will have bands on your tips for a while, and that doesn't look any better. This is why it's easier to go natural. You don't have to worry about this **** because you leave your hair alone, and you can't be held accountable for your dreads looking any particular way because you didn't do anything.
I am curious, though: what do your friends tell you to do about your tips?
