5/15/09 - Bloomington Speedway
Well the racers finally got a win over Mother Nature! We had a fun filled evening at Bloomington Speedway on May 15th. The ILMS Crate Late Models were on hand along with the UMP Sportsman/Super Stocks, and UMP Modifieds.
My evening was very successful! There were 28 Super Stocks on hand. I started outside row 4 in the 8th starting spot in heat race #2. After battling hard I wound up with a 4th place finish and a starting spot in the feature. I started inside row 6 in the 11th starting spot of the feature line-up. There were a handful of cautions and several cars that were torn up by the end of the night. I pulled off a 9th place finish. That was only my 2nd top 10 at Bloomington Speedway! I was very pleased with the entire evening!

Re: 5/15/09 - Bloomington Speedway
Wow, Friday night was AWESOME! From what I heard, the crates put on one heck of a show as well as the Super Stocks and Modifieds! I know from where I was sitting, the Super Stock class put on a great show for the fans!
The track was good a tacky all night long! Which is perfect for me and my comfort level, and it definately showed! I started outside row 4 in the 8th starting spot in heat race #2. There were 28 Super Stocks on hand trying to complete for 20 feature starting spots. The top 5 spots transferred to the feature. I pushed my way into the 4th finishing spot! Woo hoo! I made the feature and made some pretty awesome passes to get into that transfer spot!
My brother Greg, driver if the #6J Super Stock, was in the same heat race as me. He started outside row 2 and finished 2nd. After the redraw from the heat races, he was to start outside row #1 in the feature!
My friend Richie Lex, driver #7LEX Modified, managed to finish 4th in his heat race as well. And that was with a broken tie rod. Way to go Richie!
In the Super Stock feature, I was to start inside row 6 in the 11th starting spot. I got off to a good start! Not exactly sure what happened, but it wasn't long before my brother, Greg #6J, pulled the caution for spinning in turn 2. Well, I kept working and moved up as far as 8th and held on to that until the last lap. After taking the white flag, I screwed up my line in turns 1 & 2, which allowed Brad Cummings #71 to get around me. I finished in the 9th position. Not too bad! That is only my 2nd top 10 finish at Bloomington Speedway. I was very pleased with Friday evenings run!
Thanks to all who support me and my racing! You all are GREAT!
Richie managed a 7th place finish in the Modified feature! Good job, Richie! When he got home and was looking over the car, the power steering box was broken. He can't figure out how it even stayed together for the feature, but thank goodness it did. You can't imagine how difficult it is to steer one of these machines without power steering. It is almost impossible! Good job Richie!
