We're back!

June 13th at Lincoln Park Speedway...we started our day thinking we just had a couple of hours worth of work to do to get ready for race. Well we wound up working on the car all day long. We didn't even leave for the track until 4:25 in the afternoon. We don't usually cut it that close to race time!

When we got to the track and unloaded, we were all ready for hot laps and it started to sprinkle. Track officials kept the hot lap sessions going. When it was time for the Super Stocks to go out, it was still sprinkling. We had a couple of caution laps, but before they dropped the green, the rain picked up to a heavy sprinkle. When the green came out, the track was so slick, that I pulled into the pits. So much for hot laps! Mother Nature continued to play with us for a while and finally the skies broke. The Sprint cars were asked to work the track back in. Uncertain how the track would be after the rain, we waited patiently for our heat race.

I drew a pole position in the second heat race. I took the lead on the start and led to a little past half way. I pushed up the track and my brother, Greg Amick #6J, got underneath me for the lead. I held onto 2nd. Greg and I had our first 1-2 finish! Not bad, for brother and sister!

We lined up for the feature with Greg outside row 1 and me outside row 2. Greg took the lead at the drop of the green flag. I stayed in the 4th position. We managed a caution free feature event. I was running 4th and starting to catch up to the 2nd and 3rd place cars, Slick Griffin #G2 and Kenny Carmichael Jr #3, with one lap to go. In 3 & 4, going for the checker flag, Slick got sideways, Carmicheal droped underneath and I went high. Carmichael grabbed the 2nd spot and I managed to get by Griffin at the flag by a nose. WOW, I just finished 3rd! That is another personal best!

I hope now that the bad luck of breaking is behind us and we can continue to rack up soem good finishes and work our way into the points!
