July 24th - Bloomington Speedway
Well, this weekend did not go as planned, but it did go well!
Friday evening as I was getting ready to head to the track, my brother, Greg Amick #6J, called. I had just talked to him a little while before to see if he was racing. He had been working all week on putting a new body on his car. Well, things did not go as planned for him and he was not going to be able to race. I had been telling him earlier that if he did not race he would loose one spot for sure in the points, but could possibly fall farther back with out earning his show-up points. Well, he did not realize that he was 6th in the Bloomington Speedway Championship Points race. He called to see if I would be willing to let him run my car. Well, the nice person that I am, I told him he could. So, I was going to be watching from the sidelines.
The pill draw landed Greg on the tail of his heat race. Well, with a little help from the bad luck fairies landing on Brad Cummings #71 car on the last lap, Greg won the heat race!!! The re-draw allowed Greg to start 5th in the feature. Greg quickly worked his way up into the 2nd spot, but then fell back to third where he stayed for the remainder of the race. Great run, Greg! Thanks for putting my car up in the top 5!!!
Now let's see if the regular driver can do the same in the coming weeks!!!
