What WE are all about...

I've been thinking a lot about you guys since the event too.

And I, and those in our unit that I've talked to about such things, have some thank yous that should be posted as well.

First off, if I neglect anyone, sorry. I still love you, I'm just forgetful and bad with names.

Wog, thank you for bringing us up for co-hosting. We are the new guys on the block, the bottom rungs on the ladder, and we were flattered that we were even considered for such a thing. The excitement level in mount pleasant got high, and everyone in the unit, even those on the fringes, got pumped from your post mentioning us.

Noroko, you're a baller. I wasn't around for any of the work you did to help us out, but I heard about it. And I heard a lot.

Mith, god damn that night fight was awesome. And your storyline post? With the horns of fury? Gave me the biggest hard-on I've had all year. You put a lot of creative output into everything you do, and it shows, and is loved. Those stories and photos are awesome.

Stone, my herald-in-arms, you did a great job running some pickup battles while weapons check was wrapping up, setting up the storyline fights, handling the night fighting, etc. etc. etc.

F-Bomb. Buddy. Pal. Soon-to-be brother and knight. Weapons check was silky smooth. You were right, things run smooth when you can trust people, so when you walked over, Eldy and I turned and listened, because we knew it was important. It comes from a respect we have for you.

For all of you. Which brings me to a little history lesson on us. Or more specifically, me and my place in things.

I remember my first couple times fighting rather clearly. Most people talk about the excitement, falling for the game instantly. I didn't really get into at first. But I got bored one day, stumbled on the interwebs, and started reading stories. Reading about these heroes of Eryndor, the stories of Legacy, and the Senegals, and the Warband (Not sure why but I never found that much about IG) and of these people, who were doing so much. I had read all of these stories before I had ever met any of you. You weren't people to me, you were so much more.

And then I met you. And these mythical heroes were in front of me. I can't begin to describe the mind set that this put me in. It makes everything so surreal.

I can't be the only one who feels that way, either. Our unit is so fundamentally different then anything else in Eryndor, yet so much of the same. We're not special because we have a large percentage of polearms. That sets us apart initially, but it's nothing that makes us different. We are so different because we got our start so far away from everything else. We didn't have anyone who could be considered a vet at our practices for over a year. We have still have yet to have an envoy at any of practices. The greatest difference of experience in our unit, from the most to the least, is three years, with our average at one year of fighting. We don't come to a practice and have an athron or asashi to look up to. We have our leadership, and in our unit it is respected, without question, but elsewhere, we are still mostly unknown. At the first event we attend, our eyes are opened to a new world of dagorhir. So little of the eryndor experience is around for us at our practices. The level of fighting as improved, practicing three times a week will do that, but the culture is lacking. There were no stories of any of us doing anything epic.

Until now.

We are still finding our footing, and having you reach out to us, like you have, means more then I can express. It legitimizes our existence has a unit in Eryndor. Those of us who had doubts about us finding our place, namely myself, have had them erased.

So thank you, all of you, so much. You are all as much of my family as my own unit. I bleed blue and green.

And F-Bomb, don't worry about it. Some of us are still working on ours, as well. It will happen when the time is right.

Toland.... you are so important. Keep doing what you're doing, you make an old ranger proud.

Fury, I've fed you enough compliments for a while, but you know how much I truly appreciate your presence and attitude in this great community.

Stay inspired, my friends. May the alliance prosper more than the growing Darkness of Maegamarth, and let him watch as we bring an end his reign of shadow.
