Re: New positions?
Athron, you made me feel so wonderful about being an adult in the dagorhir world. I get so jealous of the people that can make it to everything and wonder in awe at how they're able to do it, haha. I can't wait until Rag so I can see everyone again!!! It is going to be absolutely epic.

Re: New positions?
I wish I could go back in time to when I was 16 and tell myself about Dagorhir. I would also like to tell myself to save my money and not date that one girl in high school, but telling my past self about Dagorhir would have to be the most important thing. You kids enjoy it now because unfortunately reality hits harder than foam. Reading this post has made me absolutely certain that The Legacy is the right place for Kaliyah and I.
Decided to edit this to actually answer the original question. You guys do what you want but I will not participate in any sort of ranking system. I really like the idea of being a mellow-yellow group that is not concerned about that sort of thing. The whole fighters test thing was fun when I first got into Dagorhir but in all honesty I don't believe that I would be physically capable of passing the same test today. Because I just don't have the time to dedicate I believe my skill level has peaked but that does not mean that I won't continue enjoying Dagorhir for many years to come. Maybe we should make the Legacy consist of entirely members who have to pay their own rent/mortgage, car insurance, auto loans, student loans, cell phone bill, etc... Or maybe not, then our unit would suck at fighting and be very bitter and go to bed early and wake up with hangovers at every event lol. I think making this post is giving me a midlife crisis, time to buy a corvette!

I call shotgun. Zafthan I hope you don't mind but I think I'm gonna use your quote about how life hits harder than foam a little more often then telling people I have a job and school. Its so true.

Re: New positions?
There seems to be a general consensus that we, as members of Legacy, do not want to implement a unit-specific ranking system. This is fine by me. From what I can tell, adding a new ranking system on top of the existing 4-tier rank system used by all Eryndorrim (recruit, fighter, hunter, hero) would be redundant.
However, what about ripping off/borrowing a cool idea from our resident vikings? The Dugans have battlefield specializations known as "Spirit Paths," which a warrior can specialize in if he/she meets special requirements for a specific path and uses a certain type of equipment. For their spirit paths, they've got The Bear, The Wolf, and The Raven. The Bear is a heavily armed and armored warrior proficient with large shields and reds, The Wolf specializes in dual-wielding and fulfills an assault role, and The Raven is a archer who also does reconnaissance duties and feeds ammo to other vikings. Pretty cool, huh? Maybe we could utilize a simplified version of this combat specialization acknowledgment system within Legacy.
Check it out on the Warband website for full detail.
Additionally, what if we just gave out honorary rankings if someone's really kicking butt at an event? For example: if one of our guys/girls shows up at an event and breaks a BUNCH of shields that day, he or she would be given the honors of "Shield Smasher."
Something to think about, maybe?

Re: New positions?
honorary ranks based off a fighter's prefered fighting style sounds pretty good. but i dont think we should use the same terminology as the dugans. for one: dont want to be seen as mooching off them. And two: We are a different unit with a different background.
I am still under the impression that Legacy is still the "Crusade" of Eryndor, so we can use that theme for our titles. For example, the Templar uses armor (full armor?) and a shield. A Crusader is Unarmored fighter, Sniper for archers. I can go on. just a quick thought.

Re: New positions?
This is just my opinion, but it seems like if we have a ranking system like theirs, even if we give the rankings different names, it will be seen as copying. I think we should try to come up with something original.

Re: New positions?
Here's my take on it:
Berserkers: Light infantry assault troops. Proficient with dual-wielding blues and/or wielding red weapons. Little to no armor - must be able to move quickly and nimbly without being encumbered. Leather armor, warpaint, & growling/yelling at the enemy is encouraged.
These guys are fierce, mobile, scary assault infantry who move and attack quickly.
Shieldmen: Light infantry assault troops. Proficient with blue & shield and javelins. Little to no armor - must be able to move quickly and nimbly without being encumbered. Leather armor & mail are encouraged, along with simple garb (tunics, tabards, etc.)
These are infantry who form the bulk of any army. Shields & missile weapons are their specialization.
Knights: Heavy infantry troops. Proficient with blue & shield and/or wielding red weapons. Medium to heavy armor - movement is less important for these warriors. Mail or plate armor, Helms, & chivalric-looking garb are encouraged.
PALADIN SPECIALIZATION IS THROUGH THIS PATH.
These are the heavy infantry who reinforce shield walls and hold them together. Good morale boosters.
Scouts: Light missile infantry. Proficient with bows & javelins. Light armor - movement is crucial. Leather or mail armor is encouraged.
These soldiers provide fire support for the front-line fighters, and conduct reconnaissance.
Pikemen: Polearm infantry. Proficient with spears, pikes, swordstaffs, & other red weapons with stabbing tips. Light to medium armor - movement is important to these fighters, but not as much as it is to berserkers & such. Leather armor & mail are encouraged, along with simple garb (tunics & tabards)
These soldiers line up behind shield walls, providing polearm support in melee battles.
That's what I've got. According to this system, we give out a specialization to a warrior who typically falls into one of these categories. OR, instead of keeping such a combat specialization system all rigid and structured, we could make it much more relaxed in order to better fit the "mellow yellow" flavor of LoL.
