Things I like about Georgia
So, I'm starting to come out of my moving blues (I even got two rooms completely unpacked and decorated!). Here are some of the nice things about living here:
1. Southern hospitality is a real thing.
2. My little town. The cashiers at the corner IGA already know me by name--"Miss Brandi" (Every adult woman is Miss down here).
3. Something about living here makes me like country music.
4. Cold lemonade
5. Diet Mello Yello on tap at most places.
6. Palm trees
7. Barbecue
8. Kudzu (I know it's destructive, but I think it's pretty).
9. Fried green tomatoes
10. The best watermelon ever

I know, I know. It scares me. I've always been so anti-country. But, we have two choices--rap and country. There's one "easy listening" station that's not too bad, but they play the same things over and over. One can only handle so much Celine Dion in one day.
So, out of desperation I started listening to country. I found I like the blue grass tinged stuff (I love blue grass), and the older stuff. The newer stuff not so much...
But, what's weird is that it feels right. It's the perfect soundtrack for my surroundings.

Really? Do you just cook them like greens, or eat them raw? I've just always heard about how it chokes the life out of everything it attaches itself to.
I like it because it's pretty...

Re: Things I like about Georgia
At home we listen to CDs or plug the mp3 player into speakers and listen to the kinds of music we like. We could do the same in the car (Mr. D always does, actually), but I like the radio in the car. I can hear weather, news, etc... I can hear new songs I otherwise wouldn't hear. So, I'm settling for country for now. We're thinking about getting satellite radio (it's much, much cheaper than I thought it would be).
Oh, and to add to my list:
11. Soul food seasoning (like seasoning salt, but with soul )
12. Southern drawls. I love 'em. I can't wait to meet Jinzy one of these days and hear hers.

Things I like about Georgia
Yay for Bluegrass. I was weened on the stuff. Dad was a big fan and he made us all listen, whether we liked it or not. Sometimes it goes so fast I can't help but like it. I'm not much for Country, though. Now, Alt. Country takes my breath away. "Car wheels on a gravel ro-oad..."
