Faye is working on making mine into a rice paddy.
I am having flashbacks to when I lived in Washington state and that is not a pleasant thing- I lived there two years and I thing it was sunny for a whole week during that time.
But we are not having hugely bad wind or anything and I have no real idea why all the stupid schools are closed in Orlando- the flooding is near the beach.

I'm thinking the Bobby Jindal effect has taken hold in Louisiana. The residents of NO have been told to get out, there will be no shelter of last resort, there will be no emergency services available. You choose to stay you are on your own. Get the heck out. - My take? I love that. It's about bloody time to treat people as adults and stop frickin babysitting them. A right huge Cat 5 hurricane is headed towards you and you live next to a big ass lake with inadequate levees and your house is below sea level? Leave it. Or, suffer the consequences. I'm really not being mean, I'm just saying, requiring emergency staff to stay to take care of idiots who refuse to leave puts their lives at risk, and their families lives as risk. It's selfish as all hell to expect someone else to protect you just because you're a stubborn idiot.

Luckily, we're pretty far inland. The nearest coastline to us is Jinzy-land. We'll get rain and wind, but it's not likely we'll see much in the way of damage or injuries (thankfully).
