I finally get it. It's all clear now.
I started reading the book "Till We Have Faces" by C.S. Lewis. Suddenly Pirate makes sense to me.
I wondered why on earth she'd named her blog after part of a horse's hoof. Now I know Glome has additional meanings. And I get her former ABC name.
So far it's a good book--you should all read it (if you haven't. I'm probably the only one here who has not read it.)

Dad-of-Four used to tease me about my old name. A lot. He'd tell me it made him think things......interesting things. I was like - THERE'S A U IN THERE!!! I wasn't even thinking anything other than naming myself after one of my favorite literary characters. By the time I realized that all the guys were seeing ORAL instead of ORUAL I'd established myself. I'd try to explain it but then was like...oh, nevermind.
I really adore that book. It makes me hecka happy to know you are reading it. I really can't wait for you to tell me what you think after it's done.

Huh...I never even made the connection, either. It didn't occurred to me that your old name could be taked as something else. Definitely a guy thing...they're obsessed.
Odd that CS Lewis is being discussed. I just started reading The Screwtape Letters. Til We Have Faces will be next on the list.

One of the reasons I adored Calvin and Hobbes, amoung many, was that the teacher was named after the Junior devil, Wormwood. I love the Screwtape Letters too.

Toadpipe...good name.
Yeah, I read it a LONG time ago. I was cleaning some junk out of the basement and I found a whole bunch of my old books. It seemed like Christmas! I was ooo-ing and ah-ing for quite a while. The Screwtape Letters was in the box. I started reading it as soon as I was finished cleaning.

Yes, I remember that name. I think I did a double-take the first time I saw it.

Um...hey Pirate. I left you a message (days and days ago) in the HEY PIRATE! thread. It was an address for a Edward Gorey interview on You Tube. Crack me up.

Oh my gosh! I watched part of it and then my boss walked in. Now I've got to go back to watch the rest. Sorry!

It's okay...just didn't know if you saw it. The thread kept creeping down to the bottom. It's no big deal...just interesting. He was an unusual guy...like we didn't figure that out already.

Very unusual guy, rather unique. But then again, *looks around at everyone here* um, that seems to be a theme with us.
