Re: McHaleyArt's ...Art

I'm not an artist, but read lotsa comics & enjoy animation of all kinds. I used to doodle a lot, made my own violent comic for kicks and for friends who were interested.

I never took a 'real' art class before either (just stupid classes where you're drawing a paperclip or some such bull****, or where you draw an object w/out looking down, etc.) which is a shame because who knows, maybe I would have been able to draw better.

Although I'm my own biggest critic, I never did make that 'jump' from crappy to 'okay,' but drawing still made me happy.

A comment I hear a lot from people is "I really like to draw/paint but I'm not any good...so I don't." My response is always..."Who cares what other people think." Creating something from nothing acts as stress relief and (in my case)is a substitute for therapy. emoticon

Ah, now that I'm older, for stress, I now play w/ the kids, do martial arts, stare at the aquarium, & buy toys.

Wow, another watercolor masterpiece! It has a Ralph McQuarrie feel to it.

The twin suns, I suppose he's on Tatooine? Just a very stylish painting of Lord Vader striking a pose. I like it a lot! emoticonp

Thanks! I was thinking about McQuarrie's work when I was doing this but decided not to take the McQuarrie plunge (I'm a coward) which would have been to add more the the background and atmosphere and make Vader even smaller. Perhaps I'll revisit this idea sometime in the future.

I all depends on the piece...but I like to get a painting done in one 8-14 hour sitting. I had drawn up the Joker some time ago and re-drew the face 5 times before I got it the way I wanted....I had penciled up a batman as well. I painted Joker and Batman back to back starting at 10pm and finishing up around 5am....so 7 hours for these 2 pieces. Other works like Montages, I'll paint over the course of 2-3 days, taking 20-30 hours.
