Totally agree with you, BCM. About the live action TF movie, although I thought it was great, they really could have renamed it Robot Wars or something. It just felt... generic.
I would have much preferred it if they had taken the animated film and remade it in CGI.
On Hasbro's website there's a video of the Optimus Prime Vs Megatron fight done like this and it looks amazing.

That sounds cool, I'll def check it out the Hasbro site when I have a chance.
But then if they just did a CGI movie, it prolly wouldn't have attracted as big of an audience. Only the fans of the toys and show would have gone to watch it and the girlfriends would be dragged along. The Hollywood one had something for everyone, I guess!

That's true,I just couldn't get into it when I saw the robots were going to look so drastically different from G1.
I know there's the whole "realism" argument but given the subject matter I don't think "realism" is a word that should be bandied about, who's to say such beings wouldn't be capable of shrinking down into much smaller objects?
I think the changes made to Bumblebee were a bit stupid as well. I know they had to change his car mode due to VW but from a Beetle to a Camaro?

Yeah I agree, but overall, I still loved it!
I just watched it on HD DVD on my new LCD television and my jaw dropped. There's a TON of details and stuff going on in the battles that I never noticed before. The CG artists did an amazing job!

Re: First wave of the Transformers Henkei figs are out
Takara have just announced 3 Exclusives,1 of which is guaranteed to piss off anybody who bought the Botcon 2007 Exclusive Seekers.
They are,
Optimus Prime (clear plastic)
Skywarp
Thundercracker
The paint apps are different to their Hasbro counterparts and like many of the Henkei line far more faithful to the G1 toys.
The only drawback for people who missed the chance to get the Botcon set at a decent price is that both stores that are selling them (Toy Hobby Market & Ganbo-store) don't ship internationally which will mean high markups once ebay scalpers and places like BBTS get them.
I'm getting mine via a bidding agent who also has a buying service so even with the shipping and commission fees added it should still work out far less than the Botcon set now costs

Re: First wave of the Transformers Henkei figs are out
The latest numberings for forthcoming Henkei figures are,
C-09:Lambor (Sideswipe)
C-10:Streak
C-11:Ironhide
C-12:Ratchet
D-05:Octane
D-06:Galvatron
In addition an all new Binaltech mold will be getting released. There's no word on what character it'll be but the car mode is a Nissan Skyline.
