I think they used a soft rubber material and glued on a bunch of solid plastic pieces like the shells and barnacles.
I don't see any cut joints on the figure.

If they are using any type of rubber, I hope it is of good quality and wont have any cracking or paint scratching.
Cos in Singapore's humid weather, you never know what will happen to it.
As for joints, I really dont know where are his joints....cant tell.
Still, Im very excited about this figure....now all HT got to do is to announce Captain Barbosa.

That's always a concern with rubber and one of the reasons why I've so far held off buying any of the HT Alien or muscle body figures. With the price being as high as it is the last thing I want is to buy a figure that will start detriorating after a few months. As for Barbossa I think there's every chance he'll be next and I'm itching to see how he turns out,Jack Sparrow's costume was one of the best I've ever seen in 1/6 scale and Barbossa's attire is similarly elaborate. One must for Barbossa's accessories is his monkey,knowing HT's attention to small details they'll probably include the tiny pistol he pulled on Mr Cotton's parrot

I'd try and find a suitably scaled parrot to recreate the scene. Monkeys with firearms rule!

i miss the days of my youth when you'd collect action figures (he-man, ghostbusters and WWF for me) but the holy grail, the thing you'd seriously pray and hope was coming under the christmas tree that year was the diaorama set. like castle grayskull or the ghostbusters' firehouse. i always wanted those but never got one (don't worry, i was mega spoiled and got plenty of other toys).
i think if HT came out with a 1/6 section of the black pearl i'd save all my pennies up for it!

Yeah,price is all important especially with HT figures costing so much to begin with.
That said a section of the Black Pearl's deck with the wheel and maybe part of one of the masts would be tempting no matter what the price!
