true, but they had plans to make and release Joker V1 and Batman TDK before the movie was released, so they didn't have good examples to make their figures...and thus the many inaccuracies on those figures.
But afther the movie was good and long released, the figures improved a lot.>
It's making a choise, be the first but getting an inaccurate figure, or have patient and have a good looking figure

this is true to a point, but how are consumers supposed to predict whether HT will or will not release an improved figure down the road? if you wait for that and they don't, you might miss out on something that sells out. shortyred has a point. HT are doing it in a way that we don't even know there is a choice.
having said that, i'm thankful we're seeing this version. it's amazing.

I sincerely don't understand why you'd complain, you were happy with your figures until this was released right? So why aren't you happy anymore? Your fig won't stop being good just because there is a better one in the market, if the fig wasn't good in first place(like I consider the 1st Joker) I wouldn't buy it anyway. Buy the figs you like not the ones you thing are the best ones, 'cause the best is always changing

I think this is a question and an answer right here. Either you understand the frustration or you don't. I'm the other way round, i don't understand those guys who aren't frustrated by HT's numerous rereleases. I think over at SSF, where HT fanboys reign supreme, any opposing opinion on this matter gets squashed down but things at medi-world are fairer. so i'll reiterate what shortyred's sentiment is.
some people want the absolute best of a movie character etc. on their shelf, not just a "good" one. so they get the one that seems the best. now if 5 years down the line, the same company does an updated version that probably wouldn't sting so much. you had 5 years to enjoy the version that you felt was the best. and new technology etc. warrants an update.
when a company does the same character less than a year down the line, it will sting. we're not all rich guys, and we spend good money on these pieces. to have a better version come out so quickly, by the same company, of course some people are going to feel duped. you can't help asking, "why not the first time round?" the argument that the movie wasn't released yet might be fair, but both the v.1 joker and original TDK bats had deficiencies that can't be explained by lack of source material.
for me personally, i love the TDK line and i'm so glad we are getting these amazing versions. but i'd have been much happier had they released the DX versions first.
like i said, it's either something you understand or don't i think, and i don't think it's fair to attack people for that opinion like people at SSF do. same goes for the opposing opinion chiriko offered.

Well I understand people being pissed about it. I bought V1 Joker, but at the same time its not like I Don't want Dx Joker. Im glad it exist.
Theres two ways to look at it either you believe that Hot Toys knew they were going to make the DX before V1 released or it was something they developed after the fact.
Anyway NOW we know DX exist, so If they introduce future DX figures based on new products then we will KNOW they planned it ahead of time.
I thought that DX line would only be for Iconic characters, like for example NONE of the characters in Terminator Salvation should get a DX figure at all.

If you're going to spend that much cash ($100+) on a figure, you want it to be the best, you don't want a better one to come out 6 mos later. But having said that, always have options including selling your figure on the aftermarket and getting the ultimate version you want. Just a bit of a hassle I guess... HT isn't the only guilty party, all companies do it.
Medicom releases the two Mushishi figures with enough differences that you need to get both to get all the options. How about the buy Gohan to get Piccolo's head ploy? Or 3 different releases of the same Kamen Rider? Or the dozen different Lupin figures which are different yet the same?
Takara releases German grey and a black Panzer cop gal, but then re-releases the same figure in a matte finish which closer matches their Chuichi Protect Gear figure.
The main frustration I think stems from the timing of the re-release. Hot Toys seems to be releasing the upgraded better improved character too soon after the next. But you can't really blame them either because if they were to wait, in 2 years time, would as many people care about an MMX Joker as they would in these next 2 months?

WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!! They don't half. That place has really scared me recently (as in I honestly expected so much better behaviour) from the sheer fanboys it's unreal. It was nowhere even remotely close as bad as this last August. There was quite a number I really respected there but not now. I detest that behaviour of smooching/groveling/kiss ass behaviour. It's so pathetic. It's like screaming lunatics from the majority. There is still a lot of decent people over there however... most are getting swamped by all this. I still enjoy talking there with some members. There are still some decent members over there.
Quite frankly I'm thinking of taking a break from there at the moment. I just detest seeing so much ass kissing over there right now. It looks like bootlicking. I just do not see what that gains.

Yeah, I got it, it's not that don't really understand, it's just that you don't have to feel that way, there will never be the best figure, I kinda learned to see the hobby that way, I was very insecure about getting the joker and the BR joker, because I knew I'd have to buy 2 to have it full, so I didn't, now I only ordered the DX, because that is the perfect version for me, if it happen to come another one I won't really care because I already do have one that I appreciate, same with bat. As we are talking about 100$+ figures we gotta be responsable too, sure there are risks too. But that's how life is.
But trully, if the other TDK figures haven't sold that well they wouldn't invest that hard to make the DX line

Doesn't Hot Toys usually display their prototypes right away at their flagship store in Mong Kok? I'm dying to see real life snaps of the thing. Any HK based collectors here? Man, you're so gonna be my new hero (hint, hint)

i think i read either here or at SSF that they've been to the store and he hadn't been put out yet. i know what you mean though - would be great to see real pics of this guy!!! wolverine too, but i imagine the delay in official pics for that must be a resculpt after the horrible backlash from the original sculpt.
